Michigan 9th Most Selected to Win Championship Among NCAA Bracket Challenge Users

Submitted by mjw on

Some fluff as we bide our time til tip off.  Nothing to surprising among the top ten when compared against KenPom and similar rankings.  Nova edged out Virginia (haha) by less than a full percentage point.  Xavier at 8 still seems high to me.

Top ten as follows:

RANK TEAM PICKED TO WIN TITLE
1 Villanova 14.60%
2 Virginia 13.73%
3 Duke 9.14%
4 Kansas 7.98%
5 North Carolina 6.98%
6 Mich. St. 6.45%
7 Arizona 4.10%
8 Xavier 3.48%
9 Michigan 2.92%
10 Purdue 2.16%

Full list here tho every team from 14 (tennessee) on is under 1%

Every year the armchair radio bracket analysts pick MSU. Every year. It's amazing listening to the same thing season after season.

They can have that, I guess. They get the talk radio attention, we field the better teams? I'm good with it.

Surprised so many picked Virginia.  Not that I saw last night coming, obviously, but they just haven't been a good tourney team under Bennett.  I know sometimes coaches turn the corner, but I wouldn't bet on it until proven otherwise (I had them going down to Cincy in the Elite Eight).

13.73% of people watched the Virginia-UMBC game, burned any paper copies of their bracket which might have existed, drank all the beer in the fridge and passed out on the sofa. They woke up this morning still furious at Tony Bennett the singer, many of them not realizing that this is also the name of Virginia's coach.

on ESPN as one of my tourney brackets, and he picked Mchigan to win the championship, the very reason I picked it. Got Michigan winning in three of four other brackets. So, I guess I pushed the perentage for the Wolverines.
