Michigan's next basketball opponent having a hard time today
Michigan needs to keep its Focus on BGSU today, but its next opponent, Oakland, is having a hard time so far today: down 51-12(!) to Xavier with 1:17 left in the first half.

Yikes.

Yes big game vs Oakland. I'm sure UM was looking ahead to that heavyweight tilt

Obviously Oakland is also!
November 25th, 2020 at 1:07 PM ^
Makes one wonder if Oakland is in play or not.
November 25th, 2020 at 3:40 PM ^
At this point, one can only hope so.

Take it one game at a time. This is basketball not football. Every game can be drastically different week to week and if you have a bad shooting day, even the worst teams in the country can pull the upset. Upsets happen every day and teams can have bad shooting nights. So don’t overreact over any outcome. It’s normal in college basketball. Remember we struggled against app state last year then demolished everyone in the battle for Atlantis tourney. So relax sit down and enjoy the games. It’s gonna be a fun season! Go Blue!

This is basketball not football.
Could not agree more.

I disagree! Football and basketball are exactly the same!
(Actually, they're not the same but I thought I'd disagree, to see what it felt like joining the negative wave that typically flows through comments.)

Yeah, maybe Oakland was looking past today's game. Not sure why, because I believe Xavier is supposed to be decent this year. They are a BIG East team.

They are a BIG East team.
So so true.

This can be taken a couple ways ...

Nebraska’s b-ball team are wearing sports bras... I’m not kidding
November 25th, 2020 at 1:37 PM ^
Hahaha. Oh hell no!

Men's or women's?
November 25th, 2020 at 6:44 PM ^
Bras or bros?
November 25th, 2020 at 8:38 PM ^
I believe it's called a manzier
November 25th, 2020 at 1:53 PM ^
Oof! Grzzlie
November 25th, 2020 at 2:15 PM ^
Damn...whats the least amount of points ever scored in a half in NCAA basketball?
November 25th, 2020 at 2:52 PM ^
I'd imagine not the lowest ever, but in 1983 Cincinnati wasn't very good and played #2 Kentucky. It was before college had a shot clock and Cincy used a "four corners" stall strategy. Cincy's first possession consisted of 20+ passes.
UC took only five first-half shots and trailed 11-7 at intermission. At one point, Cincy held the ball for seven minutes, 22 seconds.
Kentucky won 24-11.

...and yet, even with the shot clock now, Wisconsin teams under Bo Ryan seemed to be able to keep possession of the ball for a week or more. That could have been the remarkably dull nature of their style of play, of course.

Probably that 7-0 Duke-UNC game in 1979
In 1979, UNC-Duke had it all: From 'Air Ball' to 'Black Sunday' :: WRALSportsFan.com
EDIT: That entire game is on youtube...ah, the 4 Corners offense

"during the shot clock era..."

Oakland has barely practiced. Covid outbreak caused a lot of missed time
November 25th, 2020 at 3:13 PM ^
It was worse than expected. Xavier only suited up 8 due to COVID. Final score Xavier 101-49.

OT, but during the OSU game, did anyone hear Dicky V?
November 25th, 2020 at 4:06 PM ^
Now, granted they played North Carolina A&T but the Illini just dropped....122 points in their game today. Will be interested to see how they follow that up but YIKES....

Adam Miller had a monster 1st game. Being from Chicago, kind of surprised we didn't pursue Miller earlier. He looks like a player. On another note, just watched Josh Christopher play, hes nothing special so far. He would've been a good addition to our team but he wouldn't be the star by any stretch.

Oakland plays twice before we play them - who makes their schedule?
I think Kampe has reached the downside of his career arc. Oakland was below .500 in Horizon last year and probably won't be much better this year.
