Michigan's Chances in Preseason NIT
Not sure if posted anywhere, but Michigan will play in the preseason NIT to open the season. The headliners will be Michigan, pittsburgh, kansas state and virginia.
The other teams in the field will be Fordham, Bowling Green, Delaware, Fairfield, Cleveland State, Lamar, Robert Morris and North Texas.
Also Michigan will host arkansas at Crisler this year in the return game in the home and home series scheduled.
What do you think their chances are winning it?

I would like to see Michigan get some revenge on virginia.
Heads up, we landed on the moon as well.
Yeah, this came out a very long time ago haha, but it's going to be a great tournament with some solid teams
This is old news, but it could be turned into an interesting, discussion-worthy topic. Maybe the OP could change the language (and title) a bit to encourage people to talk about the tournament instead of reporting on Michigan's participation?
Don't forget playing WVU at MSG as well in December!
You're right, my bad. I saw it was in NY and just assumed it was MSG. That'd be a fun venue to visit though.
Yeah, I've seen signs for the games on all the trains, and the venue is pretty new. Should be interesting to see how the team plays against a decent opponent early on. Despite my general distaste for traveling to Brooklyn, I might try to nab some tickets and check the team out.
Best borough in NYC by far.
Although atlantic yards is in a brooklyn neighborhood leaving a lot to be desired, the Stadium itself looks awesome already and is a short walk from some really nice areas of beooklyn Already have family tickets for the game...can't wait!
It's still being finalized, i just moved a few blocks away... run by it all the time. It's a weird looking structure.. this isn't the most recent but here's a taste:
Nebraska's going to join the Big Ten next year!
Old meme for old news ...
Well-played on the headline change, but maybe a bit too late. I guess someone has to be "that guy" and actually answer the question in the original post, so here goes:
Michigan is not going to win the preseason NIT. They won't have enough experience blending the new guys in. But it will help them immensely later in the season, and they may actually be ready for the Big Ten at the very beginning of conference play.
This team should start peaking a few weeks before the NCAA Tournament. That, of course, is the best time for a team to peak. I look for the Wolverines to finally make it back to the second weekend of the tournament this season.
What makes you say that? Novak and Douglass are HUGE losses in terms of floor generals and leaders but I think Morgan and Burke and THJ can step into those positions.
I'm looking for an even better year than last year with this recruiting class coming in.
Add Jon Horford coming back, and I think we got ourselves one hell of a shot to repeat as B1G champions.
Pitt, Kansas State, and Virginia are the other hosts. There is no reason why we shouldn't win this tournament.
But they probably won't. They'll start out as a good team, but maybe not even as good as they were at the end of last year, unless the new guys get up to speed in record time. This team should be really solid by the Big Ten season, though.
I wish they would just release the full schedule already.
I thought we were playing Alabama first
