META: Embedding Videos in the OP
Quick tutorial on how to embed videos in OPs. I'm going to use Youtube as a basis, because thats where most folks get their videos. Everything I write will double with how to embed in comments EXCEPT where noted:
Step 1: Find video (I'm using http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLOtDB1SzSA because Brian hasn't put "Brady Quinn for Heisman" back on Youtube)
Step 2: Click Youtube link that says "Share"
Step 3: Click "Embed"
Step 4A FOR OPs: Click check box that says "use old Embed Code"
Step 4B: Copy Embed Code
******Note: for Embedding videos in the comments you do NOT need to use the Old Embed Code******
Step 5: Click "Switch to plain text editor" here on MGoBlog
Step 6: Paste in Embed Code
Step 7: Switch Back to "Rich Text Editor" and see the box for your video (h/t Blazefire)
FOR OPs: Make sure the box that pops up on the screen says "FLASH" and not "IFRAME". "IFRAME" is the newer embed code and won't work in the OP. Both "IFRAME" and "FLASH" videos will work in the comments.
Step 8: Enjoy your embedded OP Video

Someone else has posted "Brady Quinn for Heisman" under another name. Fitting, since you can't have one without the other...

Us less technically inclined Mgobloggers salute you.

And why people think I'm a magician just because I can embed something into the OP. I don't think people are using the old codes. Which means to embed in the posts it must be possible to do it with the new codes. (But not the OP). All my youtube links are already set to bring up the old codes, so I never knew the new ones would work just fine elsewhere.

After you paste the code, make SURE that you switch back to rich text editor. Otherwise, it tends to fail. Also, close-tag the paragraph that contains the video. Just for cleanliness.

...I seem to always f-up block quotes the first time, and then manage (sometiimes) to fix it with trial and error on re-edit.
Anyone want to thow that in here too?
And thanks for the help!

Switch to plain text editor, put the quote between <blockquote> </blockquote>, then switch back to rich, finish your post. Sometimes helps after putting in the last > to type something so it's easier to click where you are going to be starting from after.

In a block quote:

Thrusday he go to the ball game, but we fool him and we no show up. Friday it was a double header, nobody show up, so we stay home and listened to it on the radio.< / blockquote >< / p >

My first ever embedded video. Thought everyone would enjoy this Sparty classic:

The "Sparty Classic" I would love to see is the original "Braylon-fest" video with LL Cool J's 'Mamma Said Knock You Out" playing in the background. That seems to have been lost to the interwebz.
