Men's gymnastics in NCAA finals tonight

Submitted by Raoul on
Just a quick note that the men's gymnastics team is competing in the NCAA finals tonight in West Point, N.Y., at 7:00. Other teams vying for the championship are Oklahoma, California, Stanford, Illinois, and Ohio State. There's a live blog at the U-M site. Go Blue!

Looks like Michigan survived the delay in fine fashion. Switching topics slightly--to the women's team--and you may already know this Chris, but Bev Plocki on WTKA today said that Zurales will definitely be out at the nationals with a dislocated shoulder. Beilstein will replace her on balance beam and Kramer on vault.

the redo's on still rings left (one of them is ours, a good chance to improve our score a little) Michigan is in first! Stanford is 0.3 back, Oklahoma is about 3.0 back. From what I'm gathering nobody else is particularly close. I don't know if any OU or Stanford athletes get to redo Rings. But it looks very, very good for Michigan. GO BLUE! EDIT: We're also 1-2 in the all-around, with the extra Rings people still to go. Our guys will not repeat their routines. I don't know the spread on that.

Fourth national title for the men's team and first since 1999. First Michigan team with a national title since softball in 2005. Congrats to the men! Now, let's see how the women do next week. Hail to the Victors!
