Ohio State just cleaned up on Florida, Butler/Louisville coming up, Indiana playing, and MSU later...
chance of bowl: 13.6%
as much as it pains me, I was impressed with OSU tonight. Granted, Florida's defense was terrible, but OSU is loaded with weapons. Diebler obviously can light it up, Buford can score in bunches, Lighty is a defensive stopper who scored 25 tonight, and the trio of freshman in Sullinger, Butler, and Kraft were impressive. I was especially impressed by Kraft, who looked like a veteran out there. Sullinger scored 26 plus had 10 boards, and he looked good but basically every one of his points was off a dunk. Anyways...good win for the Big 10 at the very least on the road.
I like maize, not highlighter neon yellow
flipping through a channel or two man
They're all on ESPN or ESPN3
I've been scouting Syracuse. Like last year, Syracuse still sucks in the first half of games against inferior opponents. They went through a 1-for-21 shooting stretch to allow Detoirt to lead by 3 at the half. Detroit is using the 2-3 zone well against the team vaunted for running it so well.
2nd half just opened to 'Cuse hitting a 3 to tie. A bit more energy for the Orange out of the break.
Scoop Jardine is the real deal though, no doubt about that. I also couldn't believe Rick Jackson got himself in good enough shape to play all 40 minutes (he also had 22 boards).
They looked a ton better in the second half. It'd be awesome if Michigan could keep the game as close as Detroit did through the first half and maybe 5 minutes of the 2nd.
The girlfriend is from 'cuse, and doesn't seem to understand neither my apathy toward basketball in general, nor my apparent lack of enthusiasm in Michigan facing the Orange. As someone who never really got into basketball, I don't really care how Michigan does.
That said, I've already pre-ordered a Maize and Blue bouquet to arrive at her work on game day with a message, "Go Blue, beat the Orange." This way she at least feels like I'm being competitive with her, which should score me some points.
Is it really called the "KFC Yum! Center?" That's an awful name for an arena. Almost as bad as Value City Arena...the school that plays in it gives them the edge.
That is the name of the company, no matter how stupid it may sound that is their name. No different than the Staples Center, Comerica Park, or the great venue known as Value City Arena. I will say this though, Louisville's new digs look nice and seem to have grasped the college atmosphere as much as possible for a place named after a corporation.
Yum Brands is the parent company of KFC as well Taco Bell and other restaurants they own. I don't think I've ever seen a company do this before and the awkwardness of the combination is what seems silly to me.
But you're right, that arena looks amazing. That's the benefit of being a college team that is the main attraction in a moderately big city.
Call it what you like, it's the best arena in college basketball now, and one of the best basketball arenas in the nation. And, even on an off-year (and after last night's thumping of a ranked opponent, I'm not sure it's as off as expected), it will bring in 20k+ real fans every single night.
is a freak.
But abandoned its inside-out offense in the second.
Gators dominated the boards in the first but not in the second.
Upperclassmen Lighty and Buford are going to be very tough competitors in the Big Ten. Diebler's role is reduced but he's always capable of dropping a flurry of threes. The freshmen make them very, very tough.
I think MSU and OSU will be outstanding this year, and suspect that Illinois will surprise folks and sneak past Purdue into third in the B10.
Sullinger is the real deal. They will be tough to take down....playing this well this early. It's not a matter of poor D from Florida, OSU just looked good executing offensively.
and no Ohio @ Temple football thread?!
Tried watching it briefly...but Pam Ward's sister was too unbearable. Oh yea, so were the crap teams.
a peek at the Ohio Bobcat...he's one of my heroes.
He is one of the few true American heroes. Doing deeds we all wish we could. Does Ohio play Notre Dame in any major sports soon?
Sparty Vs South Carolina later
Louisville looking fine against Butler
Speaking of M BB... who scheduled the Michigan basketball game in Atlantic City on the same day as The Game? My gf went to GaTech (potential opponent) and would have loved to take her there, but it's absolutely horrible timing.
Ohio has an awesome play - where the QB fakes the handoff one way, and rather than reaching a mesh point with the QB, the RB runs to the other side of the QB. It's so weird and awesome. And totally MAC.
remember when I commented about my first cousin winning Mr. Basketball for the state of KY and signing with Louisville. He is number 22 and is playing quite a bit as a true freshman. Elisha Justice is his name! He always wore number 3 in highschool as it was my and my younger brother's number in hs. Siva has it so he switched to 22 as it was his dad's football number. Anyway go Louisville!
I actually do remember that.... Jeez, I think I'm on this site entirely too much... I'm going to check into rehab.
But this is the greatest site in the world, so don't sweat it!
needed OT to beat IPFW. I miss Jordan Crawford already (XU narrowly beat WMU in the first game @ home).
I totally read "MMB Open Thread" and got excited. I didn't know what the band was doing, but man, was I interested.
