Maryland contacts Richt

Sorry, but I like this news. DJ can get something better after more time with Harbaugh.

Not sure why every discussion of richt has to mention Miami. That place sucks. Poor facilities, poor student support, not sure why he would go there when he can get another top coaching option.

5 national titles in less than twenty years.  And Butch Davis could have made it a fifth different coach if the BCS system hadn't been so fucked up (#2 in AP and Coaches poll in 2000 but did not get a chance to play for the national title).

And they did it with the same shitty facilities and lukewarm fan support.

They might as well reach out to him. With the Under Armour money maybe he will actually listen. Some of these schools won't land good coaches if they don't swing for the fences.

In his 15 years or so at Georgia, Mark Richt had one "losing" season: in 2010 his team went 6-7, which included a Liberrty Bowl loss to Central Florida. This year's regular season record was 9-3, which included a win over archrival Georgia Tech.

So at Georgia, Mark gets fired after a 9-3 season. If he goes to Maryland and compiles a 9-3 record, they'll put a statue of him outside the football stadium.

And he seems like a really good person too, especially on the college football coach scale of being a good person. It'd be great if he came to the B1G. If he winds up at Maryland, Nebraska should be kicking themselves that they didn't give Pellini one more year.
