He has been fantastic, but Juwann has made him relevant again.

Not sure if you are joking or not.....did our coach turn Spanish?

Never mind......I get it. I spelled his name wrong therefore you make fun of me with you spelling his name wrong. It’s late and I am tired. You did get me to check the proper spelling of Juwan so thanks for that! Go Blue!

I read on some board, somewhere that he is the real brains of the operation.

If there's a DaddyT there, that's me.
Mine is Big Brother and I have a burner account under Mike Hart.
Thanks, L'il Sista!

While the Sparty take that he is "the coach behind the scenes" is dumb, it is a huge asset to have an assistant coach with this kind of experience. Kudos to Juwan for being willing to offer him the spot (a lot of new coaches might not dare) and to Phil for coming aboard.
Throw in Saddi Washington (link to the Beilein staff) and Howard Eisely (longtime NBA player/coach) and this is an amazing staff.
I've wondered if Beilein would accept the same role if Martelli were to retire or move on. And if Juwan would offer it to him for that matter.
I’ve thought the same thing. Would be a really interesting move considering Beilein has never been an assistant coach at any level, but I suppose there’s a first time for everything and hot damn would this be a great thing.
Fans will be fans. There are more ways than one to skin a cat. The similarities between how Coach Howard and Coach Beilein coach the game and recruit are near zero. This is a ridiculous proposition.
Yes, and it’s so gratifying to watch the results on the court! We are blessed.
Mondo appreciation for Martelli. For Washington & Eisely. And for Howard to put together a staff that, like the team, works together well.
shouldn't his new name be 'the godfather' since he's the one doing all the coaching*
Some Michigan-linked account commented tongue-in-cheek on Twitter, recommending that Indiana interview the grandson. IU fans were a bit salty about that.
The great thing about the feature on his grandson, the kid seemed to be doing it for his own pleasure, never playing to the camera. He was cute b/c he didn't try to look cute.
Wondering if someone will try to poach him now. Hope he stays another 5-10 years.
The grandson was hilarious
