Luke Glendening took a ride with the Blue Angels today

The Blue Angels will be in town this weekend to perform at Thunder Over Michigan at Willow Run, and Michigan hockey alum and current Red Wing Luke Glendening was taken up today. Blue Angel 7 always flies to show sites in advance of the rest of the team, so this was the aircraft that Glendending rode in. The rest of the Blue Angels arrive tomorrow (Thursday).

I'll be photographing the airshow this weekend. Always a big warbird show. World's only flying B-29 and PB4Y-2 will be there. One of only two flying de Havilland Mosquito and Avro Lancaster will be there too. Hopefully some MGoBloggers can make it out!

Don't forget the FW190

Yup, that too. Not exactly sure how many FW-190s still fly but there's certainly not a lot.
Also a full F-16 Fighting Falcon demo which, after budget cuts, is almost as rare as some of the bombers I mentioned above (excluding Thunderbirds)...

Unfortunately they're predicting rain and possible thunderstorms. The one event I've been looking forward to all year and the weather is gonna suck... of course.

As it was mentioned above, there are only a few de Havilland Mosquito aircraft in flying condition left in the world. Same with the Focke Wulf 190.
To me these aren't just "world war two planes" but flying historical relics. Football is played every year, there will be new coaches and players. This may be my only chance to see a Fw190 actually flying. Same with the Mosquito.

Is my ex's cousin and I've hung out with him any number of times. Very unassuming guy especially considering he has the most badass job there is.
