*****THIS IS AN IMPORTANT POST TO READ BECAUSE IT'S 'THE' TRUTH*****

#1) Michigan is NOT Jim Harbaugh's 'dream job.'  He wants an NFL job, because him and his brother are so competitive.  SD, SF, Oak and Car (and maybe even Dal and Min) are all going to be fighting over him this off-season.

#2) Dave Brandon is going to be doing absolutely everything he can to convince him to come to Michigan over the next month.

#3) In all likelihood, Rich Rod will be brought back (signing a two year extension after the bowl game), and Greg Robinson will be replaced (along with the 3-3-5).  Ron English is supposedly an early DC candidate.

Put me down for one.  But in all fairness I was just trying to show that the Cleveland media actually treats RR better and more fairly than the Detroit media does.   But it was a RR/Harbaugh thread so guilty as charged.

Co-signed. I submit that Domino's has always been tasty.

This might be blasphemous, but enjoyed the old, Brandon-era Domino's even more than their 'new and improved' pizza. Maybe it's just U of M loyalty, but I miss those beautiful, greasy pies.

These new Domino's pizzas try to masquarade as actual parlor pizza and fail. The old pizzas embraced their place as quick-and-dirty delivery fare and greased it up in style.

And so ends my digression.

Harbaugh wins and he wins big, recruits high-character players and has never been accused of or an NCAA violation – none of which Rich Rodriguez does.

Bullshit.  Yes, there have been NCAA violations.  But, to accuse RR of not recruiting high character players is a disrespectful lie of Freep proportions.

You beat me to posting this, by exactly two minutes.

What a ridiculous fucking jackass Jim Weber is.  I encourage everybody to email him and tell him so.

I quit reading at that point.  But by then I had seen Weber's comment on how badly Harbaugh can treat the press.  Everyone in the press, that is, who (and here I'll employ the kind of imagery that a Harbaugh might appreciate) isn't willing to suck his dick.

Please, share your ideas and suggestions with Mr. Jim Weber:

I think that might be a reference to the DD situation.  Although, it is worded in a way to make it sound like RR never has recruited a high-character player.  It should read "recruits ONLY high-character players".  Then it would be accurate (assuming Harbaugh only recruits high character players, I have no idea about this).

This column isnt as superficial as most in sports writing but still the writer is playing off of whats reported in mainstream media. So he's listened to whatever vomit  Joe Schad or Herbies put forth, or read the Freep drivel. His profile of Harbaugh's beginings at Stanford was interesting though.

Had RR pulled any of those moves the blue hairs and tradtionalists would have shat themselves.

Not making any arguments either way, but this column, like all columns, makes the issue too black and white when I think our fearless leader knows this shit is nothing but gray gray gray.

today is the first time I can remember of being ashamed of this board. There was no presser, there was no announcement, there was no indication, there was nothing today from the AD.

If RR was going to be terminated, he would have been already. He ain't going anywhere folk. Brandon is smart, or so the Pimp Hand suggests. He would have brought that db Harbaugh in today if he were going to be a coach here next year. Guess what? He's still not coming. Why? Because RR is the coach and will be the coach in 2011.

I'm tired of the conjecture, the speculation the 'omg Jimmy Harbaugh, I love you' speak. If it didn't happen today, it's not happening this year. Lets move on and discuss more relevant things such as the weather for the Big Chill or what fashion statement Stonum will make at the next presser or anything else. please.

Out my eyes: David Brandon should not be part of the decision, in fact he should be fired a day earlier than RR (have you seen the U of M basketball program?). Harbaugh would be a great choice for UofM. I hope he considers it.

At this point, RR will always have haters.

Hit the nail right on the head with this one. He could win National Championships from now through 2020, 22 first team All-Americans per year, a Heisman winner each year, sweep awards each year, and blow teams out of the water 130-0 every game, and people will find something to complain about.

"I'm sick of watching our team win everything, it's boring"

"How come we didn't have TWO Heisman winners this year? WTF FIRE DICK ROD"

etc

Why so impatient as to demand results of RR within five years?  Why not say 2020 just to make sure it's not somehow all Lloyd's fault still?

I'm fine with giving RR one more year, but if Harbaugh took the job tomorrow I'd support that decision too.  If the defense and ST don't improve by a HUGE margin next year though, I don't even want 2012 to be an option.

Let's remember that the seven teams we beat were mostly chumps, including ND, Indiana.  Our most quality win this year was at home vs. Illinois.  BFD

Harbaugh is an asshole who threw his alma mater under the bus.  I've stood by this assertion since the summer 2007 and I continue to stand by it.  Reading about how little class he has, and taking into consideration the DUI in 2005, I do not want him as HC at Michigan, guarantees be damned.

The description of Harbaugh is fair and accurate. He would be very successful at Michigan, but he is an arrogant bully (approaching Bobby Knight level) who frequently says or does things that make you cringe. He loves the limelight and if he takes the UM head coaching job it will be for his own ego and not because of his love for his alma mater. He is prone to "unfortunate" comments and antics and will constantly be rumored to be jumping to the NFL. Note to Dave Brandon and UM fans -- be very careful what you wish for.

FWIW, I think we can be just as successful with RR and should stick with him at least one more year to find out. IMO, if we can win championships with RR, we will be much better off because he is the type of person who is easier to be proud of as your coach (e.g., Bo, JoePa, Mack Brown) and is likely to stay at Michigan longer.

RR seems like a terrific human being who has brought great kids into the program.  IIRC, in his time with us, the team as a whole has also had very good academic performance, and he seems to have the right values up and down the line.  His only blemish is the NCAA violations, and those were more a creation of the FREEP than anything he did.

His only blemish is the NCAA violations, and those were more a creation of the FREEP than anything he did.

FWIW, he did commit the violations whether the Freep reported it or not.  The University admitted them.  So I would say it wasn't something the Freep "created", but got us in trouble for.

Section 1

November 30th, 2010 at 3:25 PM ^

No no no no!

The University admitted to violations, regarding Allegations 1 through 4.  Before any hearing.  Based on the combined investigation of the University's lawyers and the NCAA enfrorcement counsel.

Allegations 1 through 4 did not name Rich Rodriguez.  They did not "go to" Rich Rodriguez.  They were more or less, and in some cases very specifically, aimed at persons not named Rich Rodriguez.

Allegation 5 of the Notice of Allegations was aimed wholly at Rich Rodriguez, and it alleegd that he personally had "failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance."  And Rich Rodriguez contested that allegation.  And the University joined him in contesting it.  They demanded a hearing, and defended against that charge.  And as a result, the NCAA transformed the allegation; the NCAA withdrew the "failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance" charge, and instead made it an allegation, against the University, of a "failure to supervise."

In the Byzantine world of NCAA enforcement, that is just about as close to a personal exoneration as you can get.  Granted, a lot of people, including people whose name almost no general sports fan would recognize, doing jobs that the public barely knows exist, got University letters of reprimand in their University employment files.  and Rich Rodriguez was one of those people.

But your comment above is almost wholly incorrect; and worst of all, you probably represent the great majority of casual Michigan football enthusiasts who share your misunderstanding.  It is an outrage, attributable to a lazy and vicious press.

To say that RR has not recruited high-character players is a bogus, ignorant, cheap shot.  He has.

This article is basically a too-long crock of shit.
