LB James Vaughters possibly starting to look around
This is not a CC post, but involves Harbaugh's most prized recruit this year.
James Vaughters is a high four-star Middle Linebacker who committed to Stanford but is now on record as saying that he is starting to look around following all the Harbaugh rumors. He is from Georgia so no real ties to the West Coast aside from the Head Coach most likely.
Georgia Tech, the Florida schools, and tOSU are among the schools he listed.
Whether he would follow Harbaugh to any potential new destination possibly situated in Ann Arbor is a topic for another day.
For now, it's just something to keep on the radar.
Here is a Link.

This dude is a beast, please stay away from tOSU Mr. Vaughters...

Topic for another day perhaps, but if Harbaugh comes here, I will be hoping this guy comes with him.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:56 AM ^
just wanted to plant the seed.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:58 AM ^
was his second choice
December 30th, 2010 at 10:58 AM ^
How is this not a CC post?
December 30th, 2010 at 11:03 AM ^
James Vaughters is not likely to be our Head Coach next season. Thats why.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:07 AM ^
we also haven't been mentioned in connection with him. This is basically just a sneaky way of trying to say, "Hey look at me! I've unearthed another reason why Harbaugh is likely coming here!!!"
December 30th, 2010 at 11:13 AM ^
So Harbaugh is likely coming here so that we have a shot at a 4-star LB? No.
It's just some recruiting news to keep in mind for January.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:17 AM ^
Good deal.
I assume you'll also keep us updated on star recruits from other potential coaching change situations between then and now as well?!?
I look forward to your frequent posts.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:22 AM ^
I guess any news on Prince Holloway should be labeled under CC because that recruit's decision might be influenced by the coaching change?
December 30th, 2010 at 11:25 AM ^
If Prince Holloway were currently committed to Stanford, sure!
December 30th, 2010 at 11:35 AM ^
Come on Ted, it's not that rare for a post to say something like "big time recruit at X position looks to be decommitting, can we put the snake oil on him in the last month?" even if there is no coaching change involved. The fact that it's at Stanford only makes it that much more interesting, but this is hardly a CC thread.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:27 AM ^
Shut up.

Check. Mate.

It's great to see somebody who's been a member here for a little over 23 hours—with an avatar of one of the nation's most notorious murderers, to boot—act like he's a guardian of MGoBlog posting standards.
December 30th, 2010 at 12:01 PM ^
Teddy K may be a murderer, but he is an alum, and a very bright one at that. Some use their powers for good and some use them for evil.
December 30th, 2010 at 12:02 PM ^
You don't believe in reincarnation? Ted is probably Brian on the sly.
December 30th, 2010 at 10:58 AM ^
RR stays and lays a thick batch of snake-oil on this kid...
December 30th, 2010 at 11:14 AM ^
December 30th, 2010 at 1:21 PM ^
I'm sure all the "kids should commit to a school not a coach" people will be very upset if Harbaugh comes here and this kid follows.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:00 AM ^
Don't mean to change the topic of your post, but a candidate to possibly follow Harbaugh here if he indeed ends up coaching this team is Anthony Sarao, as he wanted a UM offer to begin with. Another one to keep an eye on is Remound Wright if Harbaugh ends up here. Historically though, for some reason not a lot of guys end up following a coach during a coaching change. They either stay where they are, or go elsewhere.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:11 AM ^
A. Sarao LB from NJ scout 4*
R. Wright RB from IN scout 4*
December 30th, 2010 at 11:37 AM ^
not in this case... lots of them will follow harbaugh, and my guess is especially the east coast guys like vaughters and sarao.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:51 AM ^
Yeah, it kind of depends on the situation. Some recruits commit to a school, and the coach is secondary. This would include guys like Desmond Morgan or Kellen Jones (and I'm sure others as well). Then there are guys who don't have any real connection to the school, but want the opportunity to play for this particular coach or in this particular system. It sounds like Dee Hart might be this kind of guy. Neither of them are bad, just different.
Now, something tells me that a big time LB from Georgia doesn't have a major connection to Stanford (the fact that he's now looking elsewhere is a big part). He most likely picked Stanford because he liked what JH brrough to the table. Is it possible that if JH came to Michigan, Vaughterts would still like what JH is as a coach and would like the opportunity to play for him at a school closer to home, with much more football tradition and with a higher ceiling in terms of team success? Yes, I think that's certainly possible.
December 30th, 2010 at 12:05 PM ^
There are really two types of recruits, as you said. Guys who are closer to home and have more ties to the university itself are more likely to stick with a school, regardless of coach. By my estimate, in this class, that would include MI CB Delonte Hollowell, MI DE Brennen Beyer, OH CB Greg Brown, OH DE Chris Rock, MI SR/RB Justice Hayes, and MI T Jake Fisher. There are a few other guys committed in this class that really love the university, and by my estimate, would stick around as well. That would include MD CB Blake Countess, K Matt Goudis, TX LB Kellen Jones, and maybe OH OL Jack Miller, although I think it was really the coaching staff that brought him here. That, of course, leaves FL CB Dallas Crawford, FL RB Dee Hart, and FL T Tony Posada. I think we'd be lucky to keep 2/3 were the coaching staff to change.
December 30th, 2010 at 1:25 PM ^
If we have a coaching change, I doubt any of the Florida recruits will end up enrolling.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:06 AM ^
When I saw the title my first thought was Lebron James, but this makes more sense.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:10 AM ^
Is/was RichRod and co. recruiting this guy at all? I love me some Desmond Morgan but this dude is an absolute beast.
December 30th, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
I believe we were in contact earlier in the process, but never offered.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:19 AM ^
Don't go to tOSU!!! Please stay away from that shithole of a place.
December 30th, 2010 at 12:10 PM ^
They were in his final group before he picked Stanford

laughing out loud.... i predicted that Vaughters will follow Harbaugh to us... a month ago.

DING DING DING
i predicted this a month ago, that Vaughters will follow Harbaugh.
December 30th, 2010 at 11:43 AM ^
DING DING DING
It still doesn't say that anywhere in the article.
December 30th, 2010 at 12:09 PM ^
And you are the only one ever to have done that, too. Half of this blog is hoping ("predicting") that a star LB from Harbaugh's class would follow him here. Is there anything to back that up? No, it's just as likely that anyone in that class would follow him here.

Interesting to note that Georgia Tech had 10 players who left the program during the year.

<br>FYI - I am posting from my iPhone and I don't know how to make the quote below show up in a gray box.
<br>
<br>"3. Despite landing its 17th commitment recently — linebacker Tyler Marcordes of Normal, Ill. — it appears Georgia Tech’s has plenty of room for some of these major recruits. A total of 10 players have left the program for reasons other than graduation or exhaustion of eligibility in 2010, according to JacketsOnline.com. The good news is that leaves them with just 62 returning letterman for next season. That means they could sign as many as 23 players in the current class."
