Late night Michigan Football trivia factoid

Jon Runyan's -8 yard rush last game is the first time an OL has touch the ball since the 2012 UMass where Taylor Lewan recovered a Denard fumble in the endzone, thus scoring a 0yd touchdown rush.

That and Lewan's 11 yard rush on a recovered fumble at Purdue in 2010 are the only times a lineman has touched the ball for Michigan in the 2010s.

At that point the refs felt so bad for Michigan and didn’t want to stop the beating for a meaningless reply in a game that didn’t matter anyway because both teams are in a different division so it didn’t matter that Wisconsin kicked UM’s ass because UM can still get in to the Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis and play Wisconsin again and a can of whoop-ass is reserved for Rutgers anyway when Harbaugh releases speed in space.

Come on, man. Figure it out. He's obviously talking about the other play and he's right. The Runyan lateral, carry, fumble was after the game was out of hand. If memory serves, it would have brought up 3rd and 10 instead of 3rd and 15 if reviewed, which really wouldn't have mattered because Michigan couldn't do anything anyway. I think it was near the end of the half and I was muttering the same thing under my breath... "Dont review it. Doesn't matter. Just go."

While it sure seemed like there is no way Michigan wins that game in the end, I would've liked to see how it turned out had that play not gotten overturned (along with Mason not fumbling inside the 5 yard line, of course).  Momentum can do crazy stuff, especially in an away game in that kind of environment.  Do I think it would've helped stop Wisconsin's running attack? No, but the ability to keep putting up points to try to hang with then would've been a possibility. Replay and the fumble were critical plays that set the tone early.

It was certainly evident that once Wisconsin went up 14-0, the team gave up. It’s likely we still lose (putting it mildly), but interesting to see how the game turns out if we score on that first drive and actually play until the game is  over. At least the loss looks better instead of looking dysfunctional.

Till I die, I will be disappointed I never saw Denard Robinson in 11 and 12 under Rich Rodriguez. Y’all can say our defense wasn’t going to improve, or the offense would fail in big games, but damnit I wanted to see Denard have that chance he deserved.

It was a thing of beauty...

Alas, you probably have seen bits and pieces of him running Rich Rod's stuff under Hoke.  The 11-2 Sugar Bowl year was essentially all RR's offense.  Hoke worked in more and more 'pro set' stuff over the next couple of years.  Which is why it got worse and worse.  Seeing Denard in a pro style, read through progressions like Tom Brady, offense was painful.
