Largest margin of victory against MSU since 1947

Of course, there was the 119-0 victory in 1902 as well.

I know this was a joke, but it's actually CR.

Clearly I have listened to far, far too many MGoBlog-affiliated podcast episodes

1947 - a good year for undefeated Michigan. That season culminated in at 49-0 win over USC.

It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine

The 42-0 game in 1983, that was George Perles' first year as head coach. He had a conversation with Bo beforehand at mid-field and said, "Bo, I have to admit...I'm a little nervous." Bo smiled back at his friend and replied, "You should be."
The 2002 game caused Bobby Williams firing. That one should have been 49-0. But Sparty was able to take a 3-0 lead because Braylon Edwards dropped an easy 3rd down pass, causing us to have to punt from our own end zone and give MSU a short field to set up the FG kick.
The 1985 game in East Lansing could have been a 49-0 type game, maybe even more had Harbaugh not thrown 3 bad interceptions that killed some good drives. We still won 31-0 but the final score was nowhere near what it should have been considering how dominant the team played.

It should also be mentioned that this is the worst loss in Spartan Stadium history.

As I discussed briefly in a thread earlier this week, there haven't been that many instances of true blowouts versus Sparty in recent memory. 2002, 2019, now 2023, that's really it.
2006 was 31-13 and last year was 29-7, but neither score really reflected the true domination.
2000, 2016, and 2018 were also dominating performances without the score properly reflecting the domination.

Forgot about 2006. Lloyd really put the breaks on once we were up 31-13. That game coincided with the Tigers playing the Yankees in the playoffs and we got constant score updates at the big house.

Shockingly, we left points on the field. An epic beating. It was deserved and administered appropriately.
Very proud of the team for keeping their composure. Couldn't ask for a better response to last year's nonsense.

And no injuries

This. ☝️
Very important. Especially given the opponent.

Eat shit and choke on it, Sparty
October 22nd, 2023 at 2:17 AM ^
This was mercy, it should have been worse and they deserved worse.
October 22nd, 2023 at 2:39 AM ^
They were saved by a bad call to end the first half. We should have had 56.
October 22nd, 2023 at 7:41 AM ^
Regardless of that call we could have had 60 if JJ had stayed in the game. 49 points with the offense letting off the gas, and no starters in the 4th quarter.

The score was whatever we wanted it to be. This was almost literally a name-your-score game.
October 22nd, 2023 at 2:58 AM ^
lol suck it Sparty
October 22nd, 2023 at 6:45 AM ^
Wild to think that it should have been at least 56-0…
October 22nd, 2023 at 9:31 AM ^
The score for just about every game we played could have been higher, but glad we don't run the score up.
No need to get E. Lansing excited more than necessary.
October 22nd, 2023 at 9:50 AM ^
The score in my head-canon was 56-0.
The B1G took a TD away at the end of the half that should be counted.

I knew that there was something supremely satisfying about last night's win. Just couldn't put my finger on it, and didn't know these details!
🤣🤣🤣
OK. Truth be told, there were many satisfying things about that win.

Should have been 56-0, if we didn't get that penalty that cost a score the end of the first half.

Sparty joined the Big Ten in football in 1953. So this is their worst loss to us as a Big Ten program.
