Lacrosse vs.#10 Penn, 1 PM in the Big House

Submitted by L'Carpetron Do… on

Lacrosse is back home from its spring break trip and sits at 6-1 after beating a plucky Furman team 7-5 last Saturday. Unfortunately, the game is in the Big House at 1 o'clock, the same time as the Minnesota game, so I expect the attendance to be close to 0.

Michigan and Penn played a close one last year and I would argue that Michigan had a number of opportunities to take control of the game but didn't. Michigan will have its work cut out for it though because Penn is better this year. The Quakers have beaten Virginia and Navy in close games and lost by a goal in a shoot-out vs #3 Penn State. Michigan has improved as well but their high-flying offense has come down to earth in recent games. They need King and Noseworthy to be major factors today.

In other news - the B1G looks like the strongest conference in college lacrosse this year.  Every team but Michigan is currently ranked including the #2 (Maryland) and #3 (Penn State) teams. The B1G teams have only 3 losses between them - two to a #1 Notre Dame team and one to #19 Princeton. Michigan has only one unranked team left on the schedule before conference play begins. Their schedule now goes from being incrediibly easy to incredibly hard. Let's see how they handle it - Go Blue!

I'm in California right now and I just checked the weather for Ann Arbor.  Looks like its supposed to be a high of 29 which sounds miserable. This scheduling is bullshit - they gotta do something about this. Why would anyone go to this game?  In addition - after today Michigan will have already played more than half the games on their schedule and its only March 11th.  That's some ridiculous bullshit.

they held on- surrendered  2 goals  with under 5 minutes to go. They were out shot by a lot but games like this last year they faded and lost, so I definetely see improvement. Crowd was not bad considering the cold and wind, couple hundred.

Was watching on the mgoblue video feed and yeah, you kept waiting for Penn to go on a little run with how they were dominating the shots and faceoffs. Awesome to see the guys weather the storm and hold on. Good looking crowd based on the feed, and they even kept the feed running during halftime to show the little kids out there which my 13-year old lax player loved seeing!
