(got this from Great Lakes LAX)
February 12th, 2012 at 12:20 PM ^
This is a bunch of fucking bullshit. It's the first EVER game, and there isn't ANY TV coverage and the only way to watch is pay the other school money.
God I hate detroit.
February 12th, 2012 at 12:23 PM ^
Its 2012 lets get a guy over their with a camera and a laptop.. any takers??
February 12th, 2012 at 12:26 PM ^
First world problems, eh?
February 12th, 2012 at 12:37 PM ^
I'm already hating detroit and the game hasn't even started.
How's that for an instate rivalry? I'm already a little peeved at them how in an interview one of their players called Michigan their little brother.
February 12th, 2012 at 12:58 PM ^
Michigan Lacrosse @UMichLacrosse Doesn't look like Detroit's live webstream will be active, but we'll have video highlights and a photo gallery postgame.
February 12th, 2012 at 12:58 PM ^
It's working for me right now.
February 12th, 2012 at 12:35 PM ^
This reminds me of a Louis CK bit.
February 12th, 2012 at 12:54 PM ^
At least there is a feed. The past few seasons, i think that there has only been 3 or 4 games offered on streams and those are only due to the fact we made it to the MCLA semis and championships. There was one game on ESPNU against Chapman (powerhouse in MCLA) but that was aired like 2 weeks after the game already was playes.

T-minus 10 minutes until history.

1-0 UM

2-0, Michigan. It's been a pretty defensive game. Neither team getting many shots.

2-1, Michigan, UDM with a goal.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:19 PM ^
Are you watching the game on the live feed?
If so, how was the movment on the man-down? Did we look lost out there?
February 12th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
Yes, I am. I assume you mean UDM's man-up opportunity, which amounted to nothing because UDM took an early shot and failed to back it up, U-M ran out the rest of it but gave up the goal shortly after.
2-2 now.
Edit: 3-2, Michigan with a goal 10 seconds before the end of the 1st.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:26 PM ^
Thanks for the clarification, the live stats are slow so i am never sure if they are accurate or nott.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:31 PM ^
First quarter impressions: Michigan up 3-2 after one and looking good in spots. Nice feed for the third goal. Playing solid defense against what's supposed to be a solid UDM squad offensively. But you can also see why this team will struggle: faceoffs are about even against a team that's been absolutely worthless at the X, and the man-up chance didn't look good at all, no coordination or sense of urgency to attack.
4-2 score now with U-M converting a fast break chance.
Edit: always with the scoring exactly as I'm typing. 4-3. This game started off slowly in the offense department but has a chance to be very high-scoring indeed. Just to drive the point home, 4-4 now with a quick UDM goal off the faceoff.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:30 PM ^
Please keep posting updates.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:31 PM ^
Someone Im watching with didnt understand why UDM didnt try to score with 9.8 secs left in 1Q. When there's an EMO situation (extra man on -- meaning someone has a penalty) if you have possession at the end of the quarter you start the next quarter with the ball. If the ball is in the air or on the ground the next quarter begins with a faceoff.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:33 PM ^
U-M looking sloppy now. Failed clear follows three lost FOs in a row.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:34 PM ^
Goal UDM, 5-4 Detroit. Short-stick middie got beat badly on a run by the UDM middie. (Can't tell who the players are, the resolution isn't good enough for that and there's no announcer, just video.)
February 12th, 2012 at 1:39 PM ^
I have a feeling we will be seeing this type of thing a lot this season. Mostly due to the difference in talent level between us and the rest of the teams we play this season.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:43 PM ^
Both these teams play UNC this year and I have a bad feeling that both games are gonna be a travesty.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:56 PM ^
UNC is going to destroy both these schools this year.
To be honest, i think we will be slaughtered in Denver for two(Denver and Air Force), @ Harvard, vs Ohio, @ Rutgers and @ UNC. I am saying losing all these games by at least 10.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:38 PM ^
Michigan ball now, nice save by the Detroit goalie but a poor clear puts Michigan back on the attack.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:42 PM ^
Is Michigan using their patented 10-man ride?
February 12th, 2012 at 1:44 PM ^
No. You'd be crazy to try that against D-I talent unless you absolutely had to.
5-5 now with about 3:30 to go in the half.
February 12th, 2012 at 2:17 PM ^
Sorry dude - I know that was a really stupid question to ask about a play that had become one of Michigan's trademarks - thanks for the dickish reply!
February 12th, 2012 at 2:21 PM ^
Whoa, settle down man, I'm not tryna rattle your cage. Just telling you probably why they're not doing it. The 10-man ride works when you're ten steps ahead of everyone else in the talent department like in the MCLA, I doubt they'll do it much now that they're at best evenly matched.
February 12th, 2012 at 7:07 PM ^
Bucknell runs a 10 man all the time. Almost beat Virginia last year (should have beaten them) in the quarters. It can work at the D1 level. Bucknell proves it. I agree that it probably wouldn't be smart for Michigan to use it as much for now though with the athletic disadvantage they'll have this season.
February 12th, 2012 at 8:19 PM ^
I can't speak to the rest of Bucknell's season, but they never used a 10-man ride in that game. Would've been suicide.
February 13th, 2012 at 9:44 AM ^
I can. It is their main ride. They are known for it. Watch the tape again. They didn't use it as much against Virgina, but they used it. They had success with it against some very good D1 teams last year, and I'd be shocked if they don't use it again this year.
A couple of articles referencing it:
note: did Coach Fedorjaka piss off a few coaches with his comments in that one or what?

February 13th, 2012 at 11:12 AM ^
I'm not disputing that they use a 10-man ride sometimes. But as you might expect, I watched the UVA-Bucknell game in its entirety and the only ten-man ride I recall was employed by UVA.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:43 PM ^
The live stats feed is totally screwed up, they haven't even started the 2nd quarter yet.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:45 PM ^
Tied at 5 with 3 to go in 1st half, according to UM Lax Twittter
February 12th, 2012 at 1:48 PM ^
43 seconds left in the half, Detroit calls timeout to set up one last shot. Tied at 5.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:50 PM ^
How have the GBs been going, are we getting beat tto GB easily or are we putting up a good fight for them?
February 12th, 2012 at 1:55 PM ^
I would say UDM has the ground ball edge but Michigan is holding its own.
February 12th, 2012 at 1:54 PM ^
Halftime and we're all tied up at 5.
Though only outscored by one, not a good half for Michigan. Only one goal on a settled situation, the other, IMO coming from taking advantage of mistakes that better teams don't usually make. Detroit exposed a weakness by attacking the SSDMs - didn't always score on it, but created chances. Part of the Michigan offensive slowdown came from improved defense by UDM, though, including one very, very nice save by Titan goalie Levell. Michigan got killed on faceoffs in the 2nd, though, which just can't happen against Detroit, by far one of the worst faceoff teams in the nation.
February 12th, 2012 at 2:07 PM ^
Underway. Michigan had a great chance on a fast break but Levell made another beautiful save.
February 12th, 2012 at 2:08 PM ^
early in 3rd
February 12th, 2012 at 2:10 PM ^
Goal Michigan, 6-5 now, almost halfway through the third period.
February 12th, 2012 at 2:13 PM ^
Tied at 6 with a UDM goal from close quarters.
Edit: correction, 7-6 UDM, the scoreboard guy has a lazy trigger finger.
February 12th, 2012 at 2:14 PM ^
Sudden scoring spurt - 8-6 Detroit now on a semi-fast-break.
February 12th, 2012 at 2:16 PM ^
UDM backs up a Michigan shot and gets the ball, about 5 minutes to go in the 3rd.
