Kwity Paye

Submitted by Maizeblue11 on
Kwity Paye made an appearance in the game Saturday. Had a sack and a nice tackle on Saquon Barkley. He’s a true freshman, so was he filling in for someone who was injured? I would like to see more of him over the next three games.

Even Gary, a number one overall recruit, took some time before he saw significant snaps. Physique and technique are so different compared to high school. Some guys are built like Kwity but need refinement. Some guys need two seasons in the weight room before they can even be in the conversation of finding PT. Kwity looks like a stud that I could see starting over Chase next year. Just feel he has a higher ceiling and Chase is a better luxury pass rusher than he is a full time guy

Last year's 2-deep on the D-line was A LOT more experienced than this year's.  Hurst had already been in the system for several years.  Winovich bounced around from position to position, but he'd had some experience.  Mone showed lots of promise until he was injured before the previous season.  Gary is the only one I can recall immediately who played significant tnumbers of snaps without having prior experience here.  It's why the one-returning-starter-on-D thing wasn't an accurate reflection of personnel for this year's D.  Yes, rotating players helps the D-line performance--if the newcomers are both physically ready to go and up to speed on playing within this D's schemes.

Time to punt on this season and focus on development for next year.  a redshirt senior season is less valuable than experience and playing time paying off next year.  Great teams rarely have redshirt seniors playing for them because they either usually get passed by better players or go to the nfl. Next year should be the focus for the rest of the season, play Peters, play Nico if he is ready, get the safeties some snaps in live action, need as much depth with experience as possible and this season is lost.

They did well against them last year. Brown is just going to have to find an adjustment since teams keep getting our LB's out on the edge in coverage. They either end up with McCray trying to cover a receiver or RB that he can't run with, or they get Bush out of the middle and attack it. I think we may see a lot more zone against OSU like we started to see against PSU.

If we could just pull away from a team at some point this year (Rutgers is clearly the best chance.....) then we will see other young players get a chance to get live reps. Unfortunately, we had painfully close calls against AF, Cinci and Purdue, so it's been tough to get starters off the field.

On a positive note, Dwumfour, Solomon, Kemp and even Ambry Thomas have been getting some good reps in games. I'd like to see Gil or another LB get some reps hopefully in a blowout because someone is going to need to step in for McCray next year since it's his last year of eligibility.

Oh, I know we're good when it comes to LB depth. I was just saying I'd like to see someone get meaningful snaps this year (Gil has played in a few diff games I believe) so that we feel good about the WILL position heading into next year. Ross is most likely a MIKE and I believe Singleton will play SAM. Maybe Gil and Jordan Anthony will get the most looks for WILL next season.
