I saw he released Tebow so he's probably sad about that
August 19th, 2021 at 9:35 AM ^
He'll have plenty of losses by seasons end. It's not college football.
August 19th, 2021 at 9:37 AM ^
I dont understand why our fans care so much how Urban Meyer does in the NFL. It's no shocker that the Jaguars probably wont be that good this year anyway.
August 19th, 2021 at 9:48 AM ^
Very strange indeed.
August 19th, 2021 at 9:55 AM ^
it's what I call State syndrome - celebrating any losses associated with your rival more than your team's wins
August 19th, 2021 at 10:47 AM ^
Well, we would do the latter if we had any of them over OSU in the last decade. In the meantime, I'll take Meyer having a bad season and OSU taking it in the face against Bama as the best substitute.
August 19th, 2021 at 12:13 PM ^
OSU losing to 'Bama in the CFP doesn't make me feel the slightest bit better, given that just playing in the CFP feels unattainable for us.
August 20th, 2021 at 8:06 AM ^
Especially after they cruised past Clemson
August 19th, 2021 at 11:55 AM ^
"We" do it just as much, if not more than they do.
August 19th, 2021 at 10:25 AM ^
I'm interested in how a very successful college coach does without huge advantages gained through recruiting. How much of his success was gained by coaching v. Via a talent advantage? And i'd be interested if he'd never coached at OSU or had very little interaction with M.
August 19th, 2021 at 11:01 AM ^
There are some data points there (Saban being the most obvious), but with Meyer his earlier "spread to run" style that needs the QB to be an every down threat to keep just never works for long periods in the NFL because it's a matter of when, not if, you get your QB hurt.
August 19th, 2021 at 11:22 AM ^
I think you are forgetting Pete Carroll.
August 19th, 2021 at 12:10 PM ^
Chip Kelly.
August 19th, 2021 at 4:36 PM ^
He went 13-0 at Utah...how much "talent advantage" did he have there?
August 20th, 2021 at 6:42 PM ^
Releasing Tebow is a good sign he’s done with his over the top loyalty with his players. Case in point, starting JT Barret without a competition with Haskins and Burrow riding the pine.
August 19th, 2021 at 10:51 AM ^
Only you, UMx, can save us from ourselves. Lead the way!
August 19th, 2021 at 10:58 AM ^
Your Harbaugh hatred has broken you so badly that you can’t even take pleasure in shitty people associated with our most hated rival doing poorly after they had to step down for being shitty. I would take pleasure in Urban doing poorly just like I would take pleasure in Dantonio doing poorly if he ever coached again, wherever he coached. I understand your schtick is to hate Michigan now and praise everything OSU/MSU, but telling people how much you don’t care about one of the most polarizing coaches who also coached at OSU is a pretty dumb take
August 19th, 2021 at 5:46 PM ^
IDK, I just dont go out of my way to hope for struggles in peoples lives.
Seems like a pretty decent way to behave.
Oh well, I guess red beat blue at sportsball so that means I'm dumb for thinking that way.
August 19th, 2021 at 11:31 AM ^
I'm perfectly happy to see him succeed at Jacksonville. It'll keep him out of college football, and I would be happy about that.
Having said that, I hope he succeeds like Jimmy Johnson did at Miami. In the playoffs, maybe wins the wild card game but doesn't get any further.
Jacksonville is almost certainly going to be terrible this year, though. Even if he does get them to the playoffs, it's almost certainly going to take a couple of years. Jimmy Johnson at Dallas went 1-15 his first year with a rookie Troy Aikman; the next year even after the draft picks they got from the Herschel Walker trade they still went 7-9.
August 19th, 2021 at 11:51 AM ^
Because we resent his success. We also resent his lack of integrity. We also resent the fact that he always has the most talented team on the field. Watching him have to coach in a league with a salary cap where cheating is much more difficult might be quite gratifying. Not everyone can have Jim Harbaugh’s NFL coaching success given the inherent challenges of a level playing field.
August 19th, 2021 at 4:37 PM ^
Just keep hanging onto Harbaugh's NFL success as if it means anything in 2021.
August 19th, 2021 at 5:49 PM ^
Will do. Good luck to the Jags and Bucks - the teams everyone knows that you really care about!
August 19th, 2021 at 1:17 PM ^
How can we prove he’s a Michigan fan? Could be a Buckeyes fan.
August 19th, 2021 at 5:39 PM ^
UMx is always worshipping urban and osu. It’s a known and pathetic trope.
August 19th, 2021 at 9:38 AM ^
Do you have a link? A picture? Anything really?
August 19th, 2021 at 10:07 AM ^
Here you go.....
August 19th, 2021 at 12:56 PM ^
Nice. It blows my mind that the media continually lets this guy off the hook with all of his claims of “health issues” as he repeatedly jumps from job to job.
August 19th, 2021 at 9:40 AM ^
The title really does say it all here...
August 19th, 2021 at 9:41 AM ^
Yeah, lets try to put down our former rival, because
1) we passed on him when we could have had him as coach.
2) he never lost to us.
3) put OSU on a path that will be hard to catch.
So.....lets make fun of his face after his first pre-season loss.... it will make our shallow, low wattage, small ball selves, feel better. /s
August 19th, 2021 at 9:51 AM ^
Well, Michigan did beat him once. I know, not when he was at OSU though.
August 19th, 2021 at 9:44 AM ^
good post
August 19th, 2021 at 9:50 AM ^
Bush League post by Bushwood.
August 19th, 2021 at 9:52 AM ^
Putting aside the terrible format, this is a moronic post. The Jags were 1-15 last year and you're attempting to troll Urban over being 0-1 in the *checks notes* preseason of his first year? Really?
August 19th, 2021 at 9:54 AM ^
well, it's better than reading this morning's Rainer Sabin hit piece.
Boycott the Freep.
Go Blue.
August 19th, 2021 at 9:58 AM ^
How about a link?
Never mind - a Bolivia exile might ensue.
August 19th, 2021 at 10:07 AM ^
The title is really all you need to know: "How a new Michigan staffer strayed outside NCAA rule book, exposed Jim Harbaugh's hypocrisy"
August 19th, 2021 at 9:55 AM ^
I'm all for Urban Meyer shit talking, but lets wait a little while until he's actually an NFL laughingstock before making these jokes
August 19th, 2021 at 9:59 AM ^
Great, thanks for the heads up. This makes me feel so much better about him completely owning Michigan when he was HC @ OSU. Thumbs up.gif
August 19th, 2021 at 9:59 AM ^
Speaking of the NFL, can anyone try to explain why I'm ambivalent towards Michigan probably wearing all-blue at some point this year but I cannot stand the all green throwbacks the packers dropped this morning?
Monochromatic superhero costume football uniforms (particularly with matching helmets) is a fad that I will be glad to see phase out in a few years.
August 19th, 2021 at 10:27 AM ^
Maybe you like blue and don't like green?
August 19th, 2021 at 11:41 AM ^
The answers you seek are within you.
August 19th, 2021 at 12:58 PM ^
I dislike all the gimmicky uniforms but no fan is going to buy a jersey of their favorite team every year if they always look the same. Apparently people will buy these horrible limited edition unis though.
August 19th, 2021 at 10:00 AM ^
Was the year the lions went winless the year they won all their preseason games?
August 19th, 2021 at 10:49 AM ^
Exactly
August 19th, 2021 at 10:39 AM ^
Meyer of course won't enjoy the recruiting advantage in the NFL that he did in college. Every team he goes up against will now either be just as talented as his, or more than likely, more talented than his. That being said, Meyer has shown a penchant for hiring very good assistants in the past (Zach Smith notwithstanding), so if he keeps that trend going in the NFL he has a chance to be successful.
However, he is probably going to lose the most games in one season that he's ever lost as a coach in his entire career. It will be very interesting to see how he responds to that. His usual M.O. is to duck out after things start to go sideways. If he goes 5-12, do those health issues crop back up again?
August 19th, 2021 at 10:43 AM ^
I do not like Urban Meyer.
I hope he is unsuccessful in the NFL.
August 19th, 2021 at 10:48 AM ^
Teams better get used to losing to the Browns
August 19th, 2021 at 10:48 AM ^
It was a pre-season game first of all. Second, Trevor Lawrence looked good for the 2 series he played.
August 19th, 2021 at 11:06 AM ^
Urban living rent free in UM fans heads is actually Urban still "winning"
Forget about him
