JaxBlue don't go. How am I supposed to enjoy this blog without you? There is a little less sunshine in my life without you here. We will have to find a way to move on without you. It won't be easy, because your such an integral part of the blog... but we will try.

Also, "pompous." Are you sure you're a Michigan fan? Tell me you at least know how to spell "arrogant."

Can we please remember that his good friend is still on the team and stop it with the money and he stinks crap. You dont have to wish him well, but stop with the benfits, unless you have evidence.

So doesn't this pretty much lock up Kozan? Surely he wouldn't pick a school with 6 OLs already committed?
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:10 PM ^
Iowa doesn't have 6 OLs committed. This is the line of thinking that gets you guys so let down everytime somebody chooses a school other than Michigan.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:47 PM ^
Lets get Kozan and we ll be all happy.

It's hard to not be disappointed when these kids don't pick Michigan, but we just have to keep reminding ourselves that we have a great class. The coaches did a superb job getting the recruits to commit early in the process. Perhaps it's for the best that we are not signing the kids who can't make up their minds before February, the ones who are torn between different schools, or between what they want & what's best for their family.
It is better to have kids committed early who are sure they want to come to Michigan and won't be leaving before the end of fall camp or fall semester, because they want to be closer to home, or can't take the competition, or handle the rigors of the program.
How often in the past have we had kids pick Michigan on NSD or later? I haven't followed recruiting closely, so none come to mind. I'm curious when previous big name recruits signed. Any one remember notables like Woodson signing?
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:53 PM ^
even if kozan signs, i still believe we take another OL, like the 3* gibbs from birmingham. seems like a smart kid too. i scanned the rivals list and he appears to be the highest ranked local kid that is unsigned.

Who cares? He's gone, let the past be the past. We've got Braden, Bars, Magnuson, and Kalis, and these guys are going to be monsters in a couple years. We'll meet Auburn in the capital one bowl/sugar bowl one of these years and teach them a lesson. On to 2013!
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:41 PM ^
I think they need another Newton to get there

Diamond went where he'd have less competition.
February 4th, 2012 at 2:26 AM ^
My comment that OSU insiders had insinuated the kid was looking for a payday was deleted. Is this against board policy?
I would hardly ever accuse a kid of being on the take without ample evidence and I think that's cheap. But this really is one of the most obvious cases I have ever seen.
February 4th, 2012 at 9:01 AM ^
Comments from OSU insiders do not constitute "ample evidence." A grain of salt thinks they should be taken with something less than. Just saying, that may have been why..
February 4th, 2012 at 4:02 PM ^
I didn't say it WAS ample evidence. Re-read my post.
It is merely one of several tea leaves that suggests this kid is on the take.
February 4th, 2012 at 7:05 AM ^
are so much tougher at Michigan that it scares off many recruits who just are not into the whole learning thing.
February 4th, 2012 at 8:14 AM ^
We can play the "Auburn/SEC recruiting tactics" card...we can play the academics standard card...we can even "attention whore" card.
But in the end, he didn't pick Michigan.
You know what? Who cares? Truth is, both sides are probably better off.
If you followed the kids entire recruitment, does it sound like a guy Hoke would truly want on the team? Sure, talent wise. But all of the "fluff" is the exact opposite of Hoke.
So it would've been nice to have the kid and hope he grew up and matured while at Michigan...but losing him to Auburn? Meh. I say "NEXT!"
IMO this is Joseph Barksdale pt. 2
But like I said, he chose another school...oh well, we still have an AMAZING class. We're not Northwestern. This doesn't make us.
February 4th, 2012 at 9:03 AM ^
born and raised in La. This whole theory of the SEC being head and shoulders above everyone else is ridiculous. So I'm saying it now, I hate the SEC.

Auburn has 6 OL commits. Welcome to Ann Arbor, Kozan.
February 4th, 2012 at 9:38 AM ^
I know I will probably get flamed for this but I never even really wanted Diamond. Granted it would be nice to get another offensive lineman in this class but I never wanted it to be Diamond. Hopefully this means we get Kozan, but if now we have so much potential for the 2013 class that it doesn't even matter. Plus, I believe all our OL recruits now are better than Diamond even if the ranking doesn't show it. I can't believe some people are disappointed about this class. Hoke is doing a wonderful job and the 2013 class is off to a great start with Morris and Thomas. 2012 was a good class but expect 2013 to be even better.
February 4th, 2012 at 9:46 AM ^
I wasn't completely sold on Diamond either but I'm also not completely sold on the idea of Kozan either..This class has some really good chemistry as is and is a pretty damn good class..I just think these last second (make a quick decision) recruits don't usually pan out. The guys who committed early are the guys that really want to be here, so I'll root for them
February 4th, 2012 at 10:12 AM ^
I actually do agree with this. I want guys who are 100% committed to Michigan so I am not as sold on Kozan as everyone else but he would be a great addition nonetheless just because of numbers. I just think we need 5 OL in this class with our depth there and if the Sugar Bowl is any indication of our future at center then that isn't very good and Kozan could possibly fill the need at center. Granted we have a full offseason so the centers we have will get more practice/hopefully be more comfortable but it was frustrating to see what happened when Molk was out. That is basically the only reason why I think Kozan just because I want more depth on the OL/center in particular.

You can delete me all you want, but I'm not the only one that believes that SEC recruiting is shady!
