Joel Klatt breaks down the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl

Joel Klatt YouTube video program.  As usual, very articulate and informative.  Comments about the great Rose Bowl experience.

Notably compliments the D-line ("best in nation"), lockdown overall defense (except for Milroe rushing), JJ's critical last drive, how we overcame the poor Special Teams play, "the better team won", etc.

Also talks about the Sugar Bowl towards the end.

I love Joel's level-headed takes on things.  One of the best in the business, and a guy putting himself in front of a mic by himself for 35 mins without wasted time, ramblings, etc. is a serious skill.

What I like about Joel that Herbstreit lacks is the “everyday man” aspect. No doubt Kirk loves CFB, but how Joel talks about it and the experience with his kids and how he grew up makes it mystical and special, less corporate and defined. You feel it in the booth. Love his analysis and passion for the preservation of the purity of the game.

Herbstreit is the definition of a “company man”. He’s too matter-of-fact and vanilla for my taste. Not saying you have to be controversial but it’s ok acknowledge an unpopular opinion even if it’s your own. If he was given a color as the color commentator, it’d be eggshell white.

It was an epic game, but oh boy, after watching it again and some of the replays, it was so fucking close.  We got a bit lucky to compensate the terrible specal teams play, but the backward pass by JJ and the tipped pass to Wilson, does could have been disastrous and we would have had such a dfferent outcome.  Thanks the football Gods for have those lucky breaks this time.

Dillon Johnson's status looks like the wildcard. He was really good for UW down the stretch. Without him, UW's offense will be one-dimensional, and we know what Michigan's defense can do against great passing attacks that lack a credible run game.

Watching highlights I'm reminded of an underrated play--Keon Sabb's tackle of Jermaine Burton on a 3rd down.  Sabb came from a deep safety position when Will Johnson blitzed.  He covered a ton of ground and still broke down with perfect technique to make a tackle on 'Bama's best skill position player.  Another amazing moment from the "no star" defense.

I love listening to Joel Klatt. He's like that great professor you had in college in a fun class who was so good at teaching. I wish we'd have him for the championship game. I hope it's not Herbstreit. He's more like the know-it-all in your study group who tries to explain in his own words, from notes he took in that professor's class, everything the professor just taught you.

I really enjoy Joel Klatt. He and Gus Johnson are my favourite play by play guys since Keith Jackson. Would have loved to have heard Keith and Joel call that Rose Bowl on Monday.
