there is no "good" form of lung cancer. My mother passed away from this illness in 2010 and the doctor's could not do much. Hopefully they caught Paterno's early, which would give him a better prognosis. The stress on him will not help though.

As a lifelong PSU fan and now a UM student, I think it would behoove you all to wait until all the facts come out about what Paterno actually did/tried to do before damning him.  This story isn't even close to over, and a lot of people (in particular the PSU BOTs) are going to end up with egg on their face at the end of all of this.

It would behoove lots of people to do lot's of things differently.  Alas, when it comes to a situation like this that deals with the safety of children, it's fair to say the the court of public opinion deals with all involved in the style of a court martial:  guilty before proven innocent.

Regardless, I wish JoePa a speedy and thorough recovery.

How could you possibly know that?

Leaving it as "wait until all the facts come out" is one thing.

Suggesting that you know the PSU BoTs are going to end up with "egg on their face" after the conclusion of the case without providing any supporting evidence (besides the fact that you're a PSU fan?) and which contradicts the available evidence we have reeks of someone who is looking to excuse JoePa for no good reason.

OK, we've got two possibilities here: 1. Someone who goes by "iCarly fan club" actually has inside information regarding Joe Paterno's actions over the past nine years. Perhaps this valuable font of information will even take the stand and testify during Sandusky's trial. 2. This poster is just another person blinded by the Cult of JoePa and is full of shit.

The BOT essentially worked for Paterno up until a week ago, his firing was done in part because they knew he had no viable alternative than to accept it.  Make no mistake, when this matter gets in a criminal or even civil forum, the absolute falsity that Paterno had "bosses" that he answered to will not be treated with the same blind acceptance that it has been internally and even in the media.  From what I have heard at this point, and I am an ethics attorney, Joe Pa at least colluded with Sandusky in a cover-up, he could arguably have been an accessory after the fact or even an accomplice in Sandusky actitives after his knowledge, depending particular on circumstantial evidnece and what can be shown about his knowledge and state of mind.  Fellas, Joe Pa will likely be charged criminally, I set the odds at about 65-35 that he will be.  There is something drastically wrong with the wording of that Grand Jury indictment, so wrong that I am sure it has raised eye-brows in Washington.  Paterno is way to key of a player in that report, and mostly in a negative light, for him to come out unscathed by the totality of what was reported.  I truly believe that Paterno will be indicted criminally for his role in the situation.  This is coming from a seasoned legal mind, Paterno will face charges.

of your analysis at first.  And I was befuddled by your tortured syntax.

But then you reassured us that "[t]his is coming from a seasoned legal mind."

Well.

That makes all the difference.

You must be right.

if the doctor told him it was lung cancer and that treatment should begin immediately or if he described it as some rogue cells in his lungs that were just 'horsing around'?

When JoePa was born, cancer of many varieties used to be an automatic death sentence.

Now we have human inquiry, science, research and technology.

It's 2011 and we're living in very fast, interesting times.

My favorite part is when his son, in announcing the previously unknown news, says "it's an intensely personal matter, and we ask you to respect their privacy." Uhhh...so that's why you announced it to the AP. To protect privacy.

Report out that the full deposition shows joepa told admin and they told him there would be full investigation. He followed up 3 months later and they said it was closed issue. He was upset and wanted to ban Sandusky from campus but admin said no you have no authority. Heard this on Steve dumig show today. From full deposition not the 25 page summary. Anyone else can confirm this? If true joepa looks much much better. And a lot premature judgement. I hope it is.
