Some other Milton expresses our hopes:

Confusion heard his voice, and wild uproar

Stood ruled, stood vast infinitude confined

Till at his second bidding darkness fled,

Light shone, and order from disorder sprung.

Feel like we see an article like this every year. That this year is finally the year

Maybe it is. I hope it is. But until it actually, you know, is, I'm just expecting more of the same. Neg away if you will, but its far easier to do than getting my hopes up just to have them inevitably crushed again.

Seeing all the QBs harbaugh has failed to turn into anything during his time here is pathetic.. I’m not sure why any parent who’s son is a QB would consider Michigan

Let’s see how Milton does this year. The previous offense was not conducive to having a prolific passing game. That’s Harbaugh’s fault for not adapting. Gentry was obviously more of an athlete than a QB. Malzone looks like he was just a dud. Speight just never seemed that talented. OKorn was just bad. Peters was   forced to play to early and was thrown to the wolves. Not sure you can chalk up Patterson’s development to Harbaugh, seemed like he had both mental and physical limitations and McCaffrey was a victim of unfortunate injuries and he may have legitimately been passed up by Milton. Milton will be the first QB that seems like he has all the physical tools, has put in the time and work and is playing in an offense tailored for his success. If Milton adds to this list of failed QBs then there really are no excuses left. And if McCarthy turns into a dud then I think we should all expect mediocrity at the QB position until a generational QB falls into our lap.

I'm so excited to see him play, hope that he learns to be a good game manager as much of anything else. We all know he has an arm and can run and will make exciting plays... But need him to manage the game first.

I don't disagree that needs to learn to manage the game first, but I hope he becomes more than that. He and every other QB that comes into Schembechler Hall need to be more than just a game manager if Michigan is to ascend beyond its current status of a good, occasionally great, but not elite program.

The days of just needing a guy like AJ McCarron who can manage the game for you, not make mistakes, and expecting that to be good enough to win a championship are over. The things that separate the Clemsons, Alabamas and OSUs from everyone else is that they have elite difference-makers at the QB position.

It may take a few games to see exactly what Michigan has in Milton. They are breaking in a pretty much brand new offensive line and sometimes it takes a little while for everything to gel together. Luckily I believe Michigan has one of the best offensive line coaches in all of college football. The team is very talented offensively on paper but the defense has a lot of question marks. If Milton is able to lead the offense up and down the field the defense has to step up. I’m not sure that Michigan has the horses on defense to hang with the good teams but only time will tell what kind of coaching job Don Brown is going to do this year. Defense wins championships and offense sell tickets.
