Jim Rome bashing RichRod

Submitted by Dan Man on
Jim Rome just became the most recent example of a sports media member taking Rodriguez's "get a life" quote completely out of context and bashing him for it. This stuff is pathetic. I'm definitely feeling Brian's frustration at the media. So many of them will take whichever angle will stir controversy or flame emotions, no matter how off base it is. And, moreover, you see this same shit outside of the sports realm. It's the main reason why politicians have to be so sterile - because any little thing they say that can be taken out of context will be used against them.

As I was writing a response to the boob who runs Yahoo! Sports' college football blog (some idiot named Matt Hinton) for taking the 4 sentence AP "story" and blowing it all to hell out of proportion...Wilbon & Kornheiser do the same thing and rip into RR...reading the same 4 sentence blurb. READ THE GODDAMN FULL ARTICLE, YOU NO-TALENT ESPN HACKS. I can't believe I even turned the TV to ESPN. I should know better.

Matt Hinton is the former SMQ, and generally the best all-purpose college football blog on these interwebs. He does say things I occassionaly disagree with, but overall, he's about the best there is.

Worst. Radio. Show. Ever. He blanks out over and over again and leaves like 10 seconds of dead air. 10 seconds of dead air on the radio is a long long time. No competent host should ever do that. Also, he lets his listens do like half his show.

hilarious guys. Sure what he burned on RR for was a quote taken out of context, but that's how most to all media are. They run with what they want to and twist it how they'd like. Anyone who refers to a certain coach as simply "VEST" is a pretty funny guy in my book.

i agree with the whole taking the quote outta context thing, but lets be honest, he probably should not have said what he did. especially his bit about the economy. its hard for someone making 2.5 mil a year to try to sound emphathetic to the economic disaster that is the state of michigan. anyways, even though this guy is a no name he makes some good points: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=granderson/081119&sport… i know ill get torn to shreds for even posting this, and people will again tell me my mother should have aborted me, and im not a true fan and blah blah blah. but whatever, rich should know standards are gonna be a little higher here than at wvu.

I can't imagine telling someone that their mother should have had an abortion, but I don't see how that article is any different than the other stupid articles posted about this topic. He makes very few good points. The only thing that RR can "learn" from this is to not say anything, ever, because it can be twisted into something negative. This is why I liked it when Lloyd wouldn't talk to the press.
