But I know from memory that some of my favorite games were the '85 & '86 ND and OSU Games.

Those 4 right there were awesome cause we won back to back seasons against our rivals, Sparty didn't matter much at the time.

I've said it often and will repeat it, Jim Hatbaugh is my all time favorite QB at U-M, I loved Rick Leach, John Wangler, Elvis, Brady, Greise the last year but Jim was so damn savvy as a QB besides having talent.

He will probably become my favorite coach at U-M sooner rather than later!!!

I was at UM 1983-1989, so watched Harbaugh regularly. One of my favorites was the 1986 ND game. My roommate was given four tickets, two of which we sold which financed our trip to South Bend. Was great to see ND miss the field goal attempt at the end right in front of us, two Wolverines in a sea of
ND fans.

forgets the 86 Iowa(9-3) game, a 20-17 Michigan win in the rain on a last second kick by Bergeron.   Hayden Fry's Hawkeyes were always a big challenge back then.  The year before Harbaugh drove them inside the 5 for the put-away TD and then Thomas Wilcher fumbled it away and Iowa kicked a last second FG to win the #1 vs #2 battle.

Harbaugh is probalby one of very few QB's who can say they beat Miami and Florida State in their career.

You've got two games confused with each other.

In 1983, Iowa tied us 13-13 in the final minutes after faking a field goal attempt.  We drove the field and Bob Bergeron kicked the game winner with 4 seconds left.

In 1986, our defense had Iowa's offense under control, we were leading 17-10 until Harbaugh threw a bad interception that was returned inside the ten yard line and Iowa scored to tie the game on the next play.  At the end of the game, Iowa was driving until at mid-field they fumbled and we recovered.  We drove and rest of the field and Mike Gillette kicked the game winner on the final play.

Both game winning field goals were in the same end zone at the big house.  The first two featured here...

I was still in elementary school but I can remember watching the 1985 OSU game on television - Harbaugh-to-Kolesar all day was a beautiful thing then and it doesn't seem to lose its luster in the highlight reels now either. Going to have to go back and watch some of these games later.

Great piece from MVictors though - thanks for sharing it.
