Jim Delany throws Tressel under the bus

"If we had known, myself, [Ohio State athletic director] Gene [Smith] and the NCAA all would have handled it a little bit differently," Delany said before departing BCS meetings Thursday.
Jim Delany is the B1G grand poobah. He's supposed to throw people under the bus who pull this crap. It's his damn job. I hope he decides to actually do it.
Delany has always come across as kind of a weasel to me. I have a feeling he's more angry that Tressel got caught moreso than what he actually did.
Why do I keep thinking that he's probably the last guy to get the joke in a comedy routine?

The Big Ten commissioner, Jim Delany, said the league was not considering suspending Tressel for additional games as the SEC did with Pearl. It will wait for the N.C.A.A.’s decision on Tressel.
“It’s not a positive,” Delany said in a telephone interview. “It’s a big issue. It’s a concern.”
Asked about stiffer penalties, Delany said that the only one that really cuts to the bone is the death penalty, which has not been on the table for decades. He said Tressel’s punishment [Ed. note: only 2 games at this point in time] transcended the fine and suspension.
“There’s a reputational damage,” Delany said. “Not only the financial penalty and the suspension, but reputational damage.”
Reputational damage only goes so far, anyway. Youngstown State and Capilari, anyone? Plus, there's the NFL option for some coaches (I'm looking at you, Pete Carroll).
Why would the NCAA not vacate osu's Sugar Bowl win? While the players were all declared eligible, THE COACH WAS NOT ELIGIBLE because at that time he was lying to the NCAA.
Can anyone prove me wrong?
if the NCAA finds that he was in violation of its rules and issues a show cause order, would he then have been ineligible?

actually, tressel threw delany under the bus back in december without delany realizing it. he's just trying to get out now with all his limbs still intact.
seriously though, he has to be so pissed that he went to bat for tressel and these players, only to find out tressel knew all along and lied about it.
I still say that if Ohio State could have been 100% sure that those emails wouldn't come to light, they would have never brought them out and confronted Tressel with them.
They wanted to preserve their boy so bad, but the risk was too great. They have been sanctioning the Tressel integrity love fest all these years. The school knows and has always known what the guy is really about.
