Not much of a surprise here.

Kinda weird that Johnny Football got so few votes. Not that I expected him to win or anything, but he sure cut a small percentage.

No question.

Someone around here said that he actually voted himself 3rd. Which I find rather admirable.

This 30 for 30 is pretty good.

This was a weird vote, since probably the two best players (Manziel and Winston) both had baggage to varying degrees. Congrats to Winston for the win, but I sure hope it doesn't come out that something did happen that night. Regardless, I honestly forgot it was even going on today.

Something DID happen that night.
Winston has admited he had sex with the girl. The 911 call from her friend said the girl was too intoxicated to remember much.

No, I recognize that part. I am referring more to the consensual nature of the engagement. Winston always admitted to having sexual intercourse with her, but it does sound like the State was a bit too quick to dismiss claims that she was unable to provide proper consent that evening. And yes, this is the type of case that makes everyone feel icky because sometimes what is legal and what it culturally acceptable can diverge.

years ago when we played new york (1996) they put us up at the downtown athletic club. very cool place, historic like the detroit athletic club. anyway, the downtown athletic club is where they handed out the heisman and kept the pictures of the winners for decades. the first night there we had a banquet with some of the local dignitaries and some of ny's team in the heisman room. neat to look around and see all the history, the winners.
all except one was on the wall. one picture was missing. guess who's? yep, OJ's was off the wall and nowhere to be seen.
unfortunately with 9/11 the club was damaged and condemned, but what a fine trip indeed.

I'm not saying the Johnny Manziel should have won the trophy... but he damn sure shouldn't have been 5th place. What a joke.

Johnny Football voted himself #3 behind Jameis and Andre Williams. Much respect to Johnny Football for not voting himself #1. I don't know how many would've voted themselves other than #1 in the same situation.

I agree. It's incredible how overshadowed a kid can get when his team goes 8-4 mainly due to a piss poor defense. He balled this year. His off the field publicity had to have had a big effect on the voting.

That and Texas A&M didn't score a big late-season upset like they did last year. Their win at Alabama was on November 10, so it was fresh in the minds of voters. This year they lost their last two games of the season and didn't beat any ranked teams.

Winston seems like he won it by default. No one really challenged him the whole season, and he kept winning and had good stats.

I lost interest in the Heisman once it became the Flavor Of The Week Quarterback Award.
