Jamal Crawford - tearing it up in the playoffs
Jamal Crawford of my Atlanta Hawks is absolutely tearing it up in the playoffs. The Hawks, who currently lead the series against the Magic 3-1, has gotten significant contributions from my personal 6th man of the year. According to the commentator during the game tonight, Jamal Crawford is the first bench player since 1991 to score 20+ points in 4 straight playoff games. The last guy to do it was Kevin McHale.
For the playoffs, he's averaging 31 min, 24 pts, and has an Assist:Turnover Ratio of 3.2. His overall FG% is 47%, but he's shooting an insane 57% from beyond the arc, including that crazy banked 3 at the end of game 3 to go up 4 and ice the victory (one end-of-game bank I can get behind).
Aside from Jamal, the only other former Michigan player in these playoffs is Juwan Howard, who's averaging a couple minutes per game for the Heat.
Go Hawks!
Yeah Jamal is doing very well this this year. Its exciting to watch.
I always felt the NCAA shafted him, and I thought he was bound for a great career at UofM. I'm glad he is finally making some noise.
To that of Matean Cleaves. They both came out in the same draft not too far away. J Dumars picking cleaves in the lottery was moronic

Why are you mixing issues? What is the point of bringing up Dumars here? As someone else noted, Jamal was long gone by the time Dumars picked that year:

Your understanding of that isn't clear.
umm joe actually wanted crawford but crawford was drafted before cleaves.
... i think.
Outside of Howard the Magic don't have very good G and F defenders. I would be surprised if he kept that up vs Chicago. Good for him though.

Looks like Orlando might be getting LeBron'ed.
Hopefully he goes to the Nets!
are not good defensive team yet their stats indicate that they are. Most of the credits goes to Howard who is the best defensive C in the league IMO. His size, length and athleticism bothers a lot of players.
congratulations to Jamal. Always loved his game and regretted we couldn't keep him around.
On a related note, did you see that Chris Paul got 27 points, 15-assists, and 13 rebound against the Kobe Lakes last night? Saw someone calling in the best NBA playoff game in 20 years.
Yeah, Paul doesn't even have his leading scorer (David West) to help him out against the Lakers. Please stay in NOLA Chris! As a Hornets and Cavs fan, loosing Paul just a couple years after losing Lebron might just cause me to stop watching the NBA. Just think what we could be doing if we had a healthy West.
I am also a Hawks fan so I have enjoyed having the highest profile Michigan bball player on the team. I think he is a free agent after this year. After Johnson's ridiculous contract (max or near max salary for 6 years) and extending Horford's contract last year (which I think we got a bargain on), I think Crawford's time in Atlanta is probably coming to an end. He'll probably be able to get a bigger contract on the market and his playoff performance is certainly helping him.
It is hard to get excited about a guy that played 17 games at the school. He was Brian Ellerbe's best recruit though?
I still consider him a wolverine. He wanted to play more than 17 games, but the NCAA wouldn't let him

He was surrounded by misfits and was still impressive. I remember a one James bounce pass he threw from half court on a breakaway. One bounce through traffic to his team mate in stride

Thought that pass was from Kevin Gaines, who looked great on the court until he got kicked out, shortly after he got busted for MIP while drunkwrestling with Avery Queen (5'6" on stilts) and 7'2" Josh Moore on the side of the Southfield Freeway.
By that logic, it should be very hard for you to get excited about Tom Brady as well.
That's not a very apt comparison. Brady was here five years and started every game his junior and senior seasons. Drew Henson (who started nine games and then left early) might be a better analogy.
Please correct me if I am wrong but is the term "oriental" when describing people PC or am I suppose to say Asian?
YES Jamal Crawford is having a great year.
"Oriental" is not PC these days. As my sister would say, "Oriental is a rug. I'm Asian." The moniker, though, was in response to some random string of comments from the haloscan days (ie, before Brian migrated over to new platform and commenting system a couple years ago). It's intended to be facetious and irreverant more than anything else. Also, my avatar used to be a maize/blue Korean flag.
cad (bears down extra-hard while he applies dreaded--lamentably only symbolic--neg of death to mean-spirited poster). Did you not read, and aborb the messages (hidden and overt) in misopogon's rant about what being a real Michigan man is this AM? If not, take you good sir, and readeth on to gentler pastures.

These NBA playoffs have been largely good so far. CP3 was disgusting last night. The Hawks have been giving the Magic fits and I think Dwight Howard might be about ready to check out and get out of dodge, which please god don't go to the lakers or something.
Crawford has been a dynamic scorer in the playoffs, that's for sure.

As much crap as Hawks fans have been giving him, I know every single one of them would be happy to have him back home in Atlanta. I know I'd be thrilled to have a legit superstar on the roster. The Hawks would be serious championship threats if that were to happen.
He has big market written all over him in my opinion. I don't think the Hawks will get him. Who knows, though.
The guy is certainly an animal talentwise even if it still feels like he's not quite up to his potential.
he did say that he'd love to make it out to LA and follow the Shaq path to stardom. He stated he wants to be in movies and be more than just a basketball star.
For the record, though, Atlanta has the 8th largest TV market in the country, behind NYC, LA, Chicago, Philly, DFW, Bay Area, and Boston. Based on what I know about him, I don't think he'd want to be anywhere in the top 10 markets (including DC and Houston) other than LA.
Oh man, think if Howard somehow ended up at the lakers or heat. They would be scary good.
Of course, they would have to give up an equivalent player, or combination of players, to get him.
You have to be like 12 years old
is always a good offensive player but he's a lazy defender which is why he'll never be more than a 6th man who can put ball in the buckets in a hurry.
I actually hated Crawford when he played for Michigan. He was a big ball hog and he sometimes shoot his team out of the game.
