Best wishes for a full recovery and a normal life outside of football. I hope he went to class and takes advantage of having a degree from a school with a lot of football-loving alumni.

So I'd think that he would have at the very least played a ver big role for them next year.

Yup..
Looks like true freshman Jaylon Smith will be starting day one... unfortunately he is described as "rare athlete who excels in punishing the ball carrier and covering deep."

It's terrible for Spond and I really hope the guy recovers with no lasting effects, but as far as ND goes I think they probably have a better player in Smith. Even if he isn't quite as good as Spond would have been this year, he is going to be an absolute monster in the years to come.

Best wishes to him in his recovery. Hopefully he gets his degree and lives a good life post football.

Rivalry doesn't enter in at a time like this, and it encourages me to see Michigan fans reacting in the right way here. Always sad to see things end this way for a kid. Fortunately for him, he's got the opportunity to get a great degree & set himself up for success in life.

"He's got a bright future. And his immediate [future] is he wants to be with the team, and our teammates were excited to hear he'll be with us every day. He'll travel with us. He'll help coach." - Brian Kelly, quoted in the article
Like the man or not, I would think that it is very cool of the staff there to include him in team activities regardless so that he can be part of the atmosphere and still continue his education. Best of luck to him in recovery and beyond.

me think Kelly is a really good guy. Hopefully he can go to class, recover and be a productive member of society.

Sounds horrible. Wish him the best in returning to normal use of his body.
