Interesting DB Offer: Anthony Standifer
I was trolling the usual sites and saw that we are the first BCS school to offer CB Anthony Standifer from Illinois. He seems on paper like a generic 3* headed for the MAC and I could not understand the offer at this early stage of the process - but then I watched his highlights. He looks like a solid FS prospect with decent speed, good height and the potential to fill out well over 200 lbs.. He has good coverage skills, excellent hands and the instincts for filling the hole in the run game - plus he can tackle. Perhaps a diamond in the rough that we are in early on? - check it out:
Silly me and my double post.
Here is the rivals link to the article about the mix-up. Its not paywalled and says basically what Tom and The Victors have already said.

What league is this in? Who in the world just throws generic lobs in the general vacinity of a college bound corner, many times over? His competition doesn't look spectacular, and with the reactions and tackling he shows on film he'll sit at 3 stars.
I'm not sold on the level of competition either. Obviously, it's evident that the guy can catch and he can tackle. Those are important, but I thought he looked slow (everyone looked slow on that video), and came across his 40 time at the Under Armour combine. Isn't a 4.77 a little bit slow for a corner?

1. He doesn't miss an opportunity for an impressive interception.
2. Decent speed.
3. tackles well in the open field and is solid at stepping in to assist in stopping the run.
Agree w/ CDutch though.... I wonder if he would be able to academically keep up w/ the rigors of a University of Michigan course load. I know coming out of high school that I wouldn't have been able to, hence the degree from GVSU.

This highlight footage has really poor production values. Where are the lightning bolt embellishments? The profanity laced gangster rap music?
C'mon put a little effort into it! You've gotta earn those BCS offers with a kick-ass highlight reel that has all the bells and whistles.

Seriously, though, looks like a solid prospect.

The kid seems to have a real nose for the ball. But man, those home uniforms are terrible. Blue pants, black jerseys, and a yellow helmet? Ugh.

Which one is it, Damn it ! Joking aside. If he has to come to UM camp to earn a offer we will see if he does show interest.

The similarities are eerie so far.
The only similarity is the issue with the offer. I don't think Darren Kitchen was every considered a sleeper by most of the recruiting sites.

i think you meant "Telling DB Offer"
Dave Brandon offering the op $1,000,000 to sleep with his wife.
Nice. Kid looks like a solid player. Some of the competition looks sketchy in some of the clips. Looks like a good tackler though. Good size.
