I guess this got lost in all the Mel Tucker drama.

JJ is playing like a Heisman winner.

I've seen QBs at Michigan who play well in the early season and drop off once heavy competition starts - I don't see that happening with JJ.

JJ was making extremely difficult throws while LBs had their backs turned. I saw him intentionally misleading the D with his eyes.

He's planting his feet and keeping his elbow high.

He's feeling the pocket and giving himself half-steps for just enough time to rifle it out.

He might have a pick or two this year but it will be heavily outweighed by some insane throws and TDs.

He's playing football like a pro and looks extremely comfortable doing it. I wouldn't want to have to play against him.

IIRC - and, I'm a "get off my lawn" kind of guy, at times - JJ had a lingering "nick" that may have arisen during the '21 season.   He's been great - but, we haven't seen many "deep, downfield" attempts thus far.    I'm not advocating deep routes - but, it wouldn't surprise me if some of those routes are being saved for conference play.

The play calling of the "acting" coaches - has been fun to watch.

I hear you. Deep shots are flashy and cool and I almost wouldn't care if he barely ever throws them.

Watching him carve up defenses with short and mid-field throws with no way for them to stop it is almost better because it's way more annoying to see your team be unable to stop the thousand cuts/slow and imminent stangling in a shallow pool vs. getting beat deep.

You said it about the deep downfield routes being saved for conference play which is exactly what I was going to reply with. I am sure that Sherrone Moore has these plays for safe keeping until at least the Rutgers game.

As a side note, since Michigan has maintained the #2 AP ranking, it wouldn't have mattered if they won these game by scores of 63-3 and 66-7 because GA would still be ranked #1. Their priority is ball control. You got to love all of the 3rd down conversions thus far. I sure do.

It’s weird, right?

Like how are you going to throw shade on the starting QB and the identity of the program, and then come back the next week like nothing ever happened. I’ve always loved Jansen as a player, alum, and now analyst but some opinions are meant for your internal dialogue on the way home from work and not to voice on radio for the entire general public to hear, regardless if you feel you’re being objective or not.

I also don’t think he needs to apologize necessarily but please don’t make that a habit.
