From Indiana to Colorado, There's a Blue Caravan Headed West And It's GLORIOUS! - Risk Day 8

Submitted by Michigan CFB R… on March 30th, 2020 at 11:22 AM

Yesterday was an extremely successful day. We won the majority of our highest leverage territories and overall finished with 14 territories, 1.2 territories over the expected result. We're in the midst of a battle with Nebraska with help from Wisconsin, Chaos, and maybe Stanford (It's unclear if Stanford and Nebraska are allies or not at this point). You can tell we're winning the battle, and Nebraska is on the verge of collapse with 4 separate enemies knocking at their door. So keep up the good work and continue to participate! We need all of the help we can get. Over the last few days we've narrowed the gap in player participation with A&M but still lag behind by about 80 players.

We have a non-aggression pact with Wisconsin. It’s very important that if you are playing do not attack Wisconsin owned territories, including the ones in Michigan. If you receive an order to attack a Wisconsin owned territory then it is because we have communicated with Wisconsin on that territory. If you have any questions about an order, then please DM us privately on reddit or discord.

How Does the Game Work?

On turn 1, each team starts with their home territory. It is up to each team to recruit players and coordinate moves. You can choose to defend any territory that your team currently holds or attack any adjacent territory. A "roll" happens each evening at 11 PM EST to calculate which teams have won which territories that turn based on the moves that were made by individual players. The ultimate goal is to conquer as much of the map as possible for your team. There are a number of different ways to do this, such as through recruiting players in sheer numbers or forming alliances with other teams.

Steps To Play Every Day:

  1. Sign up for a reddit.com account if you don’t have one already
  2. Visit collegefootballrisk.com – Click Sign in with Reddit – Select Michigan as your team
  3. Visit https://michigancfbrisk.com/ - click “Login using Reddit” – Click “Get an Assignment”
  4. Return to collegefootballrisk.com – Scroll to the bottom of the page and execute your assignment (Note: Simply clicking action so that it becomes highlighted gray confirms the move. There’s no submit or confirm button needed)

When will we take back Ann Arbor and the state of MI? When we were in alliance with WI, I was cool about it but OSU has been moving north into southern MI.

thanks for rescuing the Colorado front range (CSU territory)!

Not feeling great about Ohio's hold on the NE, but other than that, like our position and alignment with Wisky.

Can someone explain what "Territory Power" is?

I've been able to reverse engineer how "Team Power" is calculated but not "Territory Power".

Also, if say both we and Wisconsin attack a Nebraska territory what is the order of operations there? Like does Nebraska just need to win each battle head to head, or does us dinging down some of their forces but losing the battle make it easier for wisconsin to take the territory?

Territory power is just the overall amount of stars that was sent to that territory.

There is no order of operations. The winner of the territories is just an random draw, there are now individual battles that take place.

The only caveat is that team's defending a territory they own get a 1.5 multiplier.

So let's say Wisconsin sends 40 stars at Nebraska, Michigan sends 40, and Nebraska defends with 80.

The territory power would be 200 (40+40+80*1.5). Michigan and Wisconsin's odds of winning that territory would be 20% (40/200). Nebraska's odds of winning that territory would be 60% (80*1.5/200).

Some see from that picture a blue blob that is growing from sea to shining sea.

Others see the equivalent of Custers last stand with Blue surrounded by a sea of red.
