If you were in a2 right now, what would you be doing?

I'm extremely bored and miss the days when I lived in a2. After growing up there and going to school it's hard to be anywhere else. With that said, I think i'd be at Dominick's right now drinking some sangria before getting some dinner on main street. Then maybe sit outside on the patio at Charleys... What would YOU be doing?

Yes, the asshat puking was in our group. I didn't know him. He was from Israel I believe and came with our friend's sister. Fucker cost us an extra 150 for puking on the party bus. I can't speak for the pizza line, but we were only 14 people and i know at least 4 of us ate at pizza house.

I'd be sitting around on my ass watching the tigers and UM-Minny replay, bored out of my mind because all my friends have left for the summer and my roommates are douches who go home every weekend. Oh wait...

I am sitting on the porch drinking out of a growler of Bavarian Bliss from Arbor brewing, listening to the Percussion Section of the Marching Band practice at Elbel Field. All while relating this wonderful moment to my fellow Wolverines through the omniscience enabling power of the interweb. Later I'll head to Ashley's for a glass of Dragon's Milk, then walk through the diag to South U and Charlie's/The Jug. Then on my drunken way home I'll stop by Cottage in on Packard for a walk in special deep dish pizza. God I love this town.

I remember the description on the menu had a phrase like "hint of Canadian bacon." That always made me laugh because 1)they seriously distinguished between Canadian and regular bacon, and 2)there was no fucking hint, it was bacon slapping you in the face.

I used to love listening to the band practice during my senior year, when I was living on Main st. Grilling outside, drinking beer, getting fired up for football season... those were good times, indeed. Though it kind of drives me crazy how they only play a few bars from The Victors at a time... must drive them crazier

As I'm currently in Ann Arbor, I'd be doing what I'm doing right now, looking for a job (anyone want a ChemE or MSE guy, I'm both) and looking for a new apartment to live in. Yeah, my life is amazing. I can see the jealousy on your e-faces, you wish you were working in a terrible IT job like me looking for an engineering job in a horrible economic climate. Too bad, this life is MINE! If you asked this question in an hour and half, I'd say cooking... with a wok! My responses are getting more and more stupid, I think I must be hungry.

Definitely Dominicks, followed by the jug. Love main street but would probably go to cottage inn (take out) panchero's (if it's still there... and YES it's better than BTB or whatever they call it now. Don't get me started!)

i agree about pancheros. you're the second person ever to say that pancheros is better than btb. I mean BTB doesn't suck but panchero's is so much better. It has much more flavor. BTB just stuffs their burritos and doesn't care about the taste. Panchero's puts care and love into their burritos, they have so much taste. It was especially convenient for me since I was an econ major and it was close to Lorch. I would really go for a steak burrito (if i remember correctly it had rice, cheese, pintos beans, steak, mild sauce, and sour cream)with a bottle of Crush right now. Damn i miss ann arbor.

i know exactly what you mean. I lived in EQ for 2 years, and dominated the stacks, grad library etc. Panchero's is the way to go. I haven't been to Ann Arbor since October of '07... I hope to break that streak this season.

I honestly can't imagine that people actually prefer Panchero's to BTB or Chipotle. I'm no enormous fan of BTB, but from my limited Panchero's experience (3-4 mostly regrettable times over the past year), it's just not that tasty. Not terrible, but really bland and frequently disappointing. Say what you want about BTB, but at least enough people go in there that ingredients aren't sitting around accumulating a crust. I've had absolutely unforgivable rice at Panchero's probably half the times I've been in there.

to A2. I loved my time there but had to move on due to my job. I'd be curious to know how things are in A2 these days. I do plan on spending a few weeks in A2 this next year. I've been very lucky and have lived all over this country from coast to coast. A2 is still one of my favorite places.

Funny you should mention it. I have 2 degrees from Michigan, so I have spent a lot of time in AA. This trip, however, more than others, I have notice such a big change on campus. I don't have time to go into it all, but here are a few things that have changed: 1. In&out and Red Hot Lovers are gone! 2. Amberay (AKA Melrose Place), on E. Uni next to Red Hot Lovers, is now a huge nice apartment building called the Zaragon or something like that. 3. North Quad is coming along nicely (where the Frieze Building was) 4. Blimpies is not as good as I remember it (I had it last about 6 months ago)

The nice apartment building is called Zaragon Place. From what I've heard, it's insanely expensive to live there but it amazing. Amazing as in, there are fireplaces in the apartments, they come fully furnished with such things as large LCD TVs and anything else you could want. There's parking underneath and the first floor (and maybe the second too, I can't quite remember) will eventually host some nice restaurants and/or shops. The word on the street is that Red Hots went out of business because a new owner didn't play nice with his suppliers so they increased the price. And the actual owner of the property didn't want to give them a long lease like Red Hots wanted because the property owner (presumably) eventually wants to sell his prime property to whoever owns Zaragon Place. They tore down a big apartment building to build that and it cost millions so he's probably hoping to get in on the action. By the way, I'm told that they tore down the old apartment building so quickly because it was just a few months away from being a historical building which is, obviously, much harder to pull down.

The dude who bought it drove it into the ground in his short tenure, and things were going bad before major work started on Zaragorn. He made a lot of bad decisions from the point of view of a customer, and it wouldn't surprise me that he pissed off suppliers, too. "Looking for a new location" seems like a weak cover-up to me. The moment they stopped offering waffle fries was a clear sign the new management was in trouble. Don't get me started on that f'ed-up crepe machine

was a kid from the East Coast. Everything you've mentioned are just the sort of things that shitty businesspeople do when they have no tangible connection with their business (or, in many cases, reality). It all probably looked great on paper.... oops except you ruined everything

I have lived on both coasts but the majority of my time was spent in a2. My thoughts, the east coast is the worst of all places i've been. I'd take the west coast any day in a 'battle of the coasts' but overall a2 is better than the rest. The town has a unique culture, great history, and is easily the best college town in the country. Umm... I think I may be moving back soon now. Now only if there were jobs...

I'm an engineer and even I think of the FXB as a God forsaken place. Were you an aero person? I do endorse the idea of frisbee. Though, if I recall correctly, the wavefield is pretty small. It's been a while since I've been there so I may have forgotten but wouldn't that be a pretty small place to place frisbee? Edit: 100 points/no life, woo!

I took a weekend trip to AA and am currently in AA, and I just got back from Dominick's. Resting up to go out to dinner. Was going to dinner at Eve, but decided to tone it down and go to Grizzly Peak. I have it up all the good spots so far with a few more to go.

I haven't read this whole thread. To do so would hurt. Suffice to say that the guy who said he's drinking local brew and listening to the band is a lucky fucking guy.

I am in Ann Arbor and, right now, I'm reading mgoblog. It's pretty awesome. Since that wasn't very informative, however, I did spend the rest of my day studying, so that part was kinda sad.
