I admit it, I'm a junkie

Submitted by Blazefire on
I need my fix. Why does nobody have anything up about Thursday's spring practice yet? Did press not attend that one? I might be a complete nutcase, but I want my generic photos of players doing drills and my report that reads, "we were only there for 12 minutes again, but this is what I saw." IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK?!? *twitch* It might be a boring day at work.

NCAA action starts in under a hour. That should at least keep you distracted. Good luck, Blaze. The first step is admitting you have the problem.

Thanks for stepping forward. I too have the need for immediate football gratification. Although I was too afraid to step up and admit it so my hat is off to you. Hopefully we will get rewarded with more generic pictures and if we are really lucky maybe an actual action shot or two. Not that kind of action shot...

I have also become more fixiated on all the small details of Michigan football, since they started having troubles back in 2008. I want more information.

That may require a little thought. I wonder how many of what we might call 'hardcore fans' have been won over specifically because of the team's troubles. How many people had been 'Michigan Fans' for quite a long time, basking in the glow of perpetual success, and only took a true interest in the specifics of it all when things went wrong? It's like having a car you like, I suppose. You keep it clean, you enjoy the ride, but you don't really worry about it till the transmission blows out. Then suddenly you become a freak about it. Hmmm...

I'll be honest and say I wasn't a Michigan fan until I enrolled in '02. I came around and broke away from my ND loving family. I'll concur though, even in college I didn't do much following to the level I do now. I'm on Mgoblog so much that my girlfriend makes fun of me about it. That being said, I think MGoBlog and the rise of blog popularity has led me further into the "Jesus, is it September yet?" camp. I guess once Michigan starts winning again, just maybe, I'll be able to scour the internets less.

just wait till you're married. It ceases to be "girlfriend makes fun of me" and turns into "wife bitches at me all the time" about mgoblog. How many times has my wife asked if my PhD was in mgoblog? ummm, yeah like a 1000. just one of the millions of differences between the two.

I guess once Michigan starts winning again, just maybe, I'll be able to scour the internets less. I find that it's usually the opposite - when we lose I try not to think as much about the program, but when we win I start jonesing like crazy for any info I can find.

I think I started becoming a junkie right around the time Lloyd left. It began as curiosity about the program, and snowballed due to all the outside criticism. I spend so much time reading as much as I can so I can explain to people why we're not becoming irrelevant.

Agreed, that's when I discovered the blog. My brother heard somewhere that there was a blog that was indepth on all M football. I started reading daily during the coaching search, of which then morphed into recruiting (of which I never followed before). I'm now fully spiralling out of control in my thirst for the daily minutiae of the program. I feel its beyond our grasp now that we are replying to posts about player weight changes and David Brandon quotes. Help...

Are you considering any of several 12-step programs? Personally, I wouldn't. Just keep believing that you can stop any time you want.
