Hurry-Up offense and ESPN commercials?
Read an article on ESPN a few weeks ago about how ND was restructuring their commercial agreements with NBC to accomodate their new up-tempo offense.
I don't know if it was a regional (I'm in HHI, south carolina this week) but the commercial timing was horrible. On at least 2 occaisions they went to commercial right in the middle of a drive. With 10 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, the game was on and then BAM, commercials. End of the quarter is a good time for a commericial, but with our offence I spent the next 2 minutes wondering if I missed a TD or if our drive would be over.
Did the coverage up north have the same issues? I hope its something ESPN either had opening week jitters with, or can get fixed quickly! (I know ND is next week, so at least NBC will be prepared :-P )

The crew doing the game seemed a bit unprepared. A few times they were stuck on closeup shots when the play started and it was impossible to tell what was going on. Also there was a point where they went to a game break mid-drive and missed a passing play to Stonum.
Still, not having Pam Ward was a big plus, so I'm not complaining.

I'm not really sure what that was all about. There was obviously a breakdown in communication between the TV people and the refs because that first kickoff attempt was shown in full, yet they still blew it dead and did it again.

ESPN also had a hard time showing the starting line ups. I know I missed a Michigan play on their first drive due to ESPN introducing a UConn defense I did not care about.

From a production standpoint the coverage yesterday was pretty bad.

and Notre Dame won't be the only program demanding a bettter commercial scheme for the networks. I think a pounding down in South Bend and we'll have the ESPN COMMENTATORS demanding not to switch to commercial during a drive just so they won't miss another speed burst from D. Rob. GO BLUE!!

My favorite part was after Terrence Robinson's big reception.
The bottom of the screen said "Jonas Mouton 1 REC 43 YDS" i believe.
