How will JB finish out the 2010 class?
Adding at least 1 wing is clearly a priority now based upon the number of targets that we JB is after but will he end up taking 2? I think the ideal situation right now would be 1 wing and 1 PG with Ziegler and McCallum likely the top options. If we don't land McCallum, are there any other PGs that JB is targeting?
Imo...if Michigan were able to land Z & RM that would be cool. However,if RM deceides Rock Clalk the best place then I hope Coach B would bank the scholly and come back strong with the state of Michigan, looking strong in 2011,2012.
Can't wait for bball...GO BLUE!
I recall hearing something about him a while ago, is he a PG? Either that or SG. I don't think McCallum is happening, but the other guy I would like to get is Corey Prather. Things are looking up for blue on the BBall court this year!!
Tim Hardaway is more of a sg/sf combo type, the wing you are talking about is Casey Prather. Agree things are exciting for UM's future.
Hardaway is making a visit soon, and has an offer. Seems to me like he might pull the trigger.
Everything I've heard suggests Beilein will not "load up" for the talented 2011 class. We are most likely bringing in three. Smotrycz, Zeigler, and McCallum would be the best case but is not likely, especially because time is an issue and I think Hardaway may be willing to commit before any of the big fish do.
wait-n-see with Hardaway Jr hoping Z pull the trigger soon?
I love the fact we are even having this conversation...welcome back Michigan Basketball! ^_^
I think you have to take Hardaway Jr. if he wants to commit. He is a great talent, maybe not on the level of Zeigler, but good enough to be a great player for Beilein. I'd say McCallum and Prather are pipe dreams, so you try to still lasso Zeigler and get two great wing players if everything works out.
Wait and see is risky because there are still question marks about where those elite guys are headed. We should lock down Hardaway Jr. while we can
Amen! It is really nice to have such positive conversations about basketball again. Go Blue!
would be great. 6'10" beast that would fit JB's system.
I would hazzard to guess Ziegler is priority one and Hardaway would be another good get. Kearney in 2011 is a big point guard that Belien appears to be shooting for and looking strong for, per Sam Webb.
Between hopes for landing Kearney, our current guards, Darius Miles, and the walk-on Josh Bartlestein I think we hold off on a point guard in 2010 class, unless a talent like McCallum wants to commit

What about Will Regan?
Looks like he is not coming in lieu of the Smotrycz signing.

In place of the Smotrycz signing?
Smotrycz got his offer because Regan was slow to pull the trigger and Beilein needed bodies. But JB looks like a genius because as Regan slides down the rankings Smotrycz has been rocketing up them for the last 4 or 5 months.
After last season...I would venture to say he is a genius. Life after death the only way you can look at the first two season results. You have to like the direction the program is going with the new enthuisatic fanbase, the response from recruits, the parents along with the local and national press who are getting onboard also.
I agree his zeroing in on Smotrycz while everyone else was late to the party was brilliant. Regan should have been a wolverine, but JB isn't playing those games. You either get on board or the train rolls without you.
I appreciate your ability to separate process from outcome.
I am wondering how many schollies will be freed by attrition by then? No matter how many "quality kids" you get, and no matter how "stable" your program is, there is always unexpected attrition.
I'm guessing there are a couple more schollies than we thought by 2011.
long limb you're on doesn't break.
