How many scholarships do we have for next year?

The upshot is that is is to early to guess anything meaningful. Ask again after the regular season.

My count puts us at 22 right now.

Magnus keeps a count of eligible players on his site. Here is the link to his latest count:

According to him we have 75 scholarship players on roster right now - so thats 10 free spots. We will be losing 11 Seniors (assuming that our best CB, currently injured, comes back for a RSr season) - so we will have a total of 21 scholarships to give.
I hope we don't have any more attrition - if that is so - then 21 is our cap.

Wait, so Magnus says 21, but Magnus says 22. Will the real Magnus please stand up?!

If Woolfolk returns then we have 21, otherwise 22.
Also - I don't think this is probable - but there is a chancee that a fifth year senior may not get a scholarship - that will add to 21. Currently, the following are potential candidates (remote possibility though): S. Watson, K. Leach, M. Williams and B. Herron. All other current RJr seems well set in their spots and will surely get a fifth year.

Correct. I assume that Woolfolk will return, but it's not guaranteed. I haven't heard it discussed by the Woolfolks or the coaches, so I'm just counting him as a senior this year, not a redshirt junior.

If Jason White can get one then Woolfolk should too.

It's really not a question of whether Woolfolk would get a medical redshirt.
The only question is whether he would want to use it and come back for a fifth year. In other words, the ball is in Woolfolk's court.
If I were him, I'd come back for a fifth year, but maybe he has other plans.

Unless I have some current scholarships mis-allocated, we have 75 scholarship players this fall and 12 departing scholarship seniors.
85 - 75 = 10
12 + 10 = 22

Which means that we can take about 12 more players in this class (I think we already have 10 verbals). We'll see how it shakes out. I just hope we don't bank ships this year. We really need to bring in that full 22...
Here's another question for you...Of the 12 schollarships or so that we still have available how would you allocate them? How many schollies would go to offensive players? I would hold a schollarship for Bryant and another for Hart (and maybe one other for Sammy Watkins if he's a real possibility). Other than those two or three I think I would devote the 9 or 10 remaining schollarships on defensive players. (2 DT/DE , 3 LB's, 2 S's, 2-3 CB's)....
