How many M FB games have you been to/favorite section to sit in?

Submitted by DISCUSS Man on

Just generating a little friday discussion since it's been a slow couple of days (though in most cases, no news is good news).

I have been to the following-

1995 vs Purdue
1997 vs Notre Dame
1997 vs Ohio
1998 vs Syracuse
1999 vs Ohio
2000 vs State
2002 vs State
Entire 2003-2006 seasons
2007 vs Notre Dame
2007 vs Minnesota
Entire 2009-2010 seasons
2011 vs EMU
2011 vs Purdue
Entire 2012 season
Spring games 2006-2013

My first game was quite something to remember. 5-0 and was probably one of the 5K that stayed through that snow and rain storm. I don't have season tickets yet, but I've been on the waiting list for a couple years. I get my tickets through a vendor at my work. But typically the tickets I get are in Section 20.

As a kid growing up I would usually go to one or two games a year from 1967 - 1974 when my brother and sister were in undergrad and then dental school.

As a student from 1978 - 1981 I went to all home games EXCEPT the damn Indiana game made famous by Anthony Carter (went to CMU for the weekend). And yes, we got there on time.

I lived on the west coast after graduation until 1987.  Then I came home and got seasons tickets so I've been to almost every home game between 1987 and today.  Usually one road game a year and I've been to the 1986, 1997 & 2004 Rose Bowls, the 2012 Sugar Bowl and the 2013 Outback Bowl.

I think the exact number is a shitload.

I've been to about 12-15 probably. Any argue with any seats really since they're all in the big house. Best seats I've probably had though were during the abomination that was the northwestern snow/rain/suck bowl.

Between 2 or 3 dozen.  Row one section 35 is the only section I've ever watched from.  I'd love to change that though.  Endzone seats are only really cool for 25% of the game.

Section 1

I chose "Section 1" as a screen name upon about 3 seconds' consideration.  I was thinking of a screen name and a password that I was unlikely to forget, and I happened to have my season ticket renewal in front of me at the time.

I've been to more than 250 games since 1966 as a little boy.  At one time or another, I have probaly have had season tickets in seven different sections of the Stadium.  They are all good.

I will say that the east sideline is special to me because it is where I first sat, taken there by my grandfather (Class of '18) who was a roommate on the road with Old Man Yost.  I like being opposite the band (good sound) and I like being on the sunny side of the Stadium for those cool days in the late fall.  And, I like being able to look across the field to the student section to see what the kids are up to.  Having a great time, I hope.

I had a conversation with Gary Moeller one time about his watching the games.  I told him that I could see the seat he always, always occupied in the old press box, and I remarked that his whole life, except as an Ohio State linebacker, he always saw Michigan games from that side of the field.  I told Gary that I lked the East side better, because I could see the Michigan coaches sending in plays and talking to players without their backs to me.  Gary thought for a minute and then said that he'd make a point to try to watch a game from our side of the field.  I don't think he ever did.  He hobnobs with the people on the pressbox side and visits with Al Glick.

I've had season tickets since I was a freshman in 1964 and have probably missed only 5-6 games since then.  AC's catch in 1979 was made right in front of us in Section 4.  Have attended away games in South Bend, Evanston, Bloomington and, sorry to admit, most recently in Jacksonville.

I've only been to four games at the Big House but I have traveled to see them play 4 other times.  Several at both Northwestern and at osu.

My first game at the Big House was the best one against osu in 2003!  The game was the 100th in the rivalry  and it was my first Michigan-osu game!  It was such an awesome day!  I was like a kid on xmas!  I was so giddy.  I couldn't really sleep and was up ready to go at 6 am.  I was staying with a friend of a friend and they were all osu fans.  Since I couldn't sleep, I went next door and play beer pong with people outside who were just as excited (or maybe they just wanted to drink)

I seriously had permagrin all day.  I was going to have my cherry popped!  Nothing could bring me down and man what a game!!  I was in the student section half way up and making friends left and right.  Everyone was so happy that I was there, seeing I'm born and raised in Columbus, but I'm a huge Michigan fan.  They were all happy to see that there were some smart souls down there.  My two fondest memories of the game was when EVERYONE was chanting Chris Perry and then rushing the field after the game. A couple the students that befriended me that day made sure everyone knew who I was and made sure I made to the field OK.

I know you gusy will get on me for this, but the best part of the day was thinking the osu fan who was next to me that I was kind of friends with was cute.  It's a good thing she came to the game because she would eventually became my wife.  Her only fault, of course, is being an osu grad/fan.

Man what a day!!

Huh, promted by this question I counted up the number of games I've been to, and the last game I was at was my 50th! That counts a few away games and two bowl games.

I will finally be attending my 1st game this year vs. Neb!
On a related note, has anyone (or is anyone interested) gone through the stadium tour offered on mgoblue? I am planning on doing it, but will save $ if anyone is interested in joining for a group of 7.

5 seasons of student tickets (hey, I was in Engineering, so it took me 4.5 years to graduate which got me a bonus season), followed by 9 years of season tickets and then season tickets the past two years as we snapped up some of the last club seats.  In between the two sets of seaons tickets, I would go to at least one home game per season.  Add to that away games against OSU (as a student), at least 3 games in West Layfette, 7 games in Evanston, 1 at Bloomington, 1 at Iowa City, 3 in Madison, 3 in Champaign and I've taken advantage of living in Chicago to visit many big ten schools.

Best tickets by far were on the 35 yard line around row 30 during my "bonus season" as a student.  One year I got tickets just above and to the right of the tunnel through the alumni association.  Those were the best single game tickets I've ever picked up.  Best road tickets are always in Evanston.  I've been on the visitors side, 20-30 rows up near midfield many times there.

Sitting with the players parents is cool, right off the 50, home side, 13 rows back is fantastic, but the parents dont necessarily cheer as much as other sections do

But I think I may be passing 200 this season.

Every home game starting in 1989.

On the road at '94 ND, '96 Northwestern, another ND game...thinking '98, '01 MSU, '02 OSU, 03 MSU, have to check and see if it was 03 or 05 Northwestern,, '04 Purdue,  '04 OSU, '05 MSU, '06 OSU.

Bowl games - '72 Rose, '90 Rose, '98 Rose, '99 Citrus, ' 01 Citrus, '03 Outback, '04 Rose, '05 Rose, '05 Alamo, '07 Rose, '08 Cap 1, '12 Sugar.

I'm probably forgetting a couple.

Quite a few. First game was UM-Missouri in 1975. Had season tickets in high school 1980-82 when my brother was a student, and went to games 1983-1988 when I was a student at UM. Several since then, but my most memorable was going with my son and mother to the 1997 UM-Iowa game, the only game my mother attended.

Also have been to some away games - 1985 UM-Iowa (#1 vs #2 and we lost 12-10 on last second field goal), 1986 UM-Notre Dame, 1987 UM-Illinois, 2011 UM-Northwestern, 2012 Sugar Bowl.

Sat in the end zone with my family growing up from '84 to 91' and missed very few games. Student from '92 until '96....yep 5 years, missed zero games as a student. Season tickets with my wife from '97 until present and miss maybe a game every couple years...damn weddings and crap.
Been to the Rose Bowl for Bo's last game, natl title vs WSU and two losses to USC and the UCLA game. 2000 Orange Bowl and the trip to Hawaii were highlights.

I've been to at least three games a year since I was 7. That makes a low end estimate of 84, and at most about 100. 1. My favories of all time are PSU Manningham endzone catch - I took a first timer to that game. He had never been to a college football game before. 2. Under the lights - would be one if the first three qtrs weren't so gut wrenching 3. Ohio twice. Both games we lost and both times it was cold as hell and rainy. Still a great thing to see The Game in Person. Favorite seat? 22 rows up on the shady side between the 35's - you can hear coaches, it's not soo close that the kids on the sideline block the field, close to the entrance I always use, and close enough to feel the hits. Go Blue! Coming out of the tunnel and touching the banner always gives me goosebumps...
