Hockey Hello: Cole McKinney
First commit from an '07 birth year. So I guess would get to campus in the fall of '25? Highly talented forward (2.4 ppg in 20 games his last season), expected to be a high pick eventually. Playing for the USNTDP this year. Already 6' 185. Hockey recruiting is so weird because commits happen so early. Is apparently good friends with one of the top defensemen in that class and they toured colleges together, so hopefully get that kid too.

Never really heard of stars in hockey, but I guess he's a 5 star. Welcome!
Some people try to assign stars. It's kind of a crapshoot because you never know who's going to what league, you're scouting kids who are 15 when they commit, and you never know what commits are enrolling in what year so no one really tries to compare classes.
I think I remember a few Michigan guys back in the day who were can't miss top end prospects when they committed but ended up being just dudes when they got here. I'm testing my memory here but I think both Tristan Llewellyn and Luke Moffatt were both in that mold. Seems like the services have been better lately...or maybe we've just been getting guys committing closer to their entry year when it's more predictable
Sounds like a nice pickup. Getting commits from '07s is crazy though. My daughter plays with a team of '10s and those kids seem so young. What a difference 3 years makes.

Solid pickup for Nar. One of the open questions is can he keep the recruiting train going. Being that its such a long horizon time on recruiting we wont fully know the answer to that for probably another year or two, but this is certainly a tally in his favor. Big pick up
