Harbaugh should be B1G and National Coach of the Year
I don't think I've heard anyone say it in the national media just yet, but Jim Harbaugh unquestionably should be both the B1G and National Coach of the Year. Tale of the tape: losing record last year; program at a crossroads; contract halved; not even ranked going into the season; and taking the Rivals #24th ranked recruiting class from 2018 featuring 3 stars Hassan Haskins, Luke Schoonmaker and Vincent Gray and turning them into 11-1 World Beaters, Buckeye Busters and legit Natty Contenders. Hard pressed to find a coaching performance more noteworthy this year. Get it trending MGoSquad #HarbaughCOY

Okay. He has my vote.

What? Not Scott Frost?
November 29th, 2021 at 11:27 AM ^
They just hit so hard
November 29th, 2021 at 11:37 AM ^
Frost probably deserves to be in the single digits for COY. /s

Certainly can't be Harbaugh, after all, he wasn't even good enough to lose 56-7 to Ohio State after signing a 10-year, $95 million contract!

Even his mom says no.

Frosty the "No" Man

I'm fine with that. Unfortunately I think ol' Debo in EL will get some love.

?
Add to that that he has been slandered and hated by so many prominent media members for so long. Humans love justice and an underdog story. This guy’s resolve, and the way that he put all of his cards on the table before this season both financially as well as verbally is like something out of a movie. He has earned this award, and I think he will win it by a landslide.

"Add to that that he has been slandered and hated by so many prominent media members for so long."
This is the thing that would hurt his chances. Media peeps don't lose their unreasonable bias' easily...

The silent majority sees this - and rectifies it
November 29th, 2021 at 11:23 AM ^
As long as he wins next week I think the job he has done with the talent he had and the expectations to start the season he definitely has my vote for both awards!

Agreed

Definitely should be B1G COTY, for the National COTY either Harbaugh or Mike “I’m a man, I’m 40” Gundy…provided they both win their conference title. Both coaches slew their Goliath this year and both coaches could lead the first schools to the Playoff, that weren’t ranked in the preseason polls.
November 29th, 2021 at 12:17 PM ^
How old is Mike Gundy these days anyway?
November 29th, 2021 at 11:37 AM ^
Brian hit this on the head. This perfectly embodies Jim's approach. And now it feels like we are going to kick the living daylights out of that football EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Still reveling in the joy of it. How is anyone else coach of the year over him?
November 29th, 2021 at 11:38 AM ^
No argument there
November 29th, 2021 at 11:52 AM ^
Win Saturday, and he: 1. Should; 2. Probably will be.
Who else? Mike Gundy, maybe? Dave Clawson? Harbaugh turned around a ship that rats like me were jumping off of and just hung 42 on a terrific Ohio State team.
November 29th, 2021 at 11:54 AM ^
Luke Fickell will probably be in the discussion. He should be.
November 29th, 2021 at 1:10 PM ^
Good point. Amazing to me that nobody at a big program has made him a can't-refuse offer.
November 29th, 2021 at 5:14 PM ^
I imagine a few of the big programs have reached out to Fickell behind the scenes to guage interest. I think Dave Aranda could be another potential name in the conversation for COTY. I wasn't expecting much out of Baylor this season.

He's never going to win anything without a modern offense. You can't just run the ball at will against teams like Ohio St. /s
November 29th, 2021 at 11:56 AM ^
yes.... he should.... and not just because he needs to the money....
November 29th, 2021 at 11:59 AM ^
I will give Tucker credit for taking MSU from tire fire to competent, but it's hard to argue with Harbaugh not getting some love especially if they win the conference title. Nationally I've got respect for Mike Gundy at Okie St, Dave Clawson at WF, and Fickell at Cincy (even though I think that team isn't great). But Harbaugh definitely should be in the conversation.
November 29th, 2021 at 12:22 PM ^
I 100% support this statement.
November 29th, 2021 at 1:17 PM ^
As others have said, wait for him to win the Championship game this week. Then I'm all for him winning every award out there. He made big changes to fix what wasn't working and it has been very successful.
November 29th, 2021 at 1:34 PM ^
Agreed.
November 29th, 2021 at 1:52 PM ^
Harbaugh has my vote for sure, he deserves it. All the crap our fan base has given him over the years failing to beat Ohio. He did it.
Sometimes as fans and alumni we all forgot how bad our program was before Harbaugh took over with DickRod and Brady Choke.

Brady Choke? Really? Lame. He beat OSU.
