Harbaugh Does Impressions of Carl Grapentine, James Earl Jones
At the end of his WTKA interview this morning with Sam Webb, Harbaugh started talking about how cool the stadium atmosphere is for recruits. He really got into it, to the point where he did impressions of Carl Grapentine (announcing how big the crowd is) and James Earl Jones (saying "This ... is Michigan" in the video).
You'll find the interview here. Fast-forward to the 9:10 mark to hear Harbaugh channeling his inner Rich Little.

I know this has been said elsewhere but James Earl Jones really needs to be prodded into recording "Doooooooooooooooooooom" for Eddie McDoom.

Awesome when he tried to imitate James Earl Jones, saying "we are the best university in the world..."

What an unbelievable gem to drop in the middle of the thread! How in the world folks find these things, I'll never know.

It is amazing on many levels.
First, that someone had the presence of mind to record that back in 1983.
Second, that they saved that VHS/Betamax/whatever recording for 29 (!) years.
Third, that they thought of uploading it, after all that time, to YouTube, in 2012.
And finally, that the greater Michigan community became aware of its existence.

I uploaded that video in 2012 to a different youtube site with the other MMB videos from the 80s...and it's been so long since I've logged into it I can't remember the password.
But it felt like common sense to upload that.

That was John Stout with the microphone. He is still arranging and writing shows for the Michigan Marching Band. Hugely talented arranger.

I've got Take the Field Vol. 2 on VHS somewhere around here. Another classic. Vid-staff just gave it to me when I bought something newer (but less awesome.) on DVD from them. They just wanted to get rid of their pile of old VHS tapes and gave away a copy with every purchase. Unfortunately, they did not have any TTF Vol. 1 copies left. The Back to Future Show from 1985 is on vol 2 though. Can't top that.

I would love, if even for one game, JEJ to sit in with Carl and do the public address. I know he's getting up there in years and health is always a question, and he couldn't do the the individual play stuff (ball carrier, tackler, etc.) but the scripted stuff, down/distance and the like? Gold.

That's just a great interview in general. Nicely done, Mr. Webb.
