Harbaugh coverage at Pebble Beach today
Harbaugh’s team picked up some ground yesterday. They now stand in the top half of the field at -7. They need to pick up about 5 strokes on the field to get into the top 25 and make the cut. That may be a long shot, but is not bad, considering that Harbaugh’s pro partner continued his awful play (+7 for the tourney; only 8 of 156 players are worse).
The Harbaugh team was to tee off at Pebble Beach today at 11.22 am ET. But the fog has caused a 30 minute delay. That may help our chances to get TV coverage of him when CBS broadcasts from 3-6pm. But the pros in his group are not doing well, so CBS may not show much. A better bet with more extended coverage will be to watch the free streaming coverage of holes 10 and 17. He should hit the 10th at about 2pm ET (around the same time as the start of UM-Purdue BB) .

Harbaugh is all set to go low today after listening to Gordon Lightfoot while drinking a mug of whole milk and eating a freshly grilled steak!! He then proceeded to get his playing partners in a huddle and yell...Who's got it better than us??????
February 13th, 2016 at 11:00 AM ^
Also, he has had almost zero time for golf in the past year, so his game could pick up considerably now. With a practice round, he has been playing at least 3 days in a row. I just hope he does not get blisters!

I can picture him when a member of team is facing a tough putt or chip shot:
Harbaugh: "I have a question for you."
Teammate: "Coach?"
Harbaugh: "I want you to make that golf shot better than anyone has ever done before. Can you do that?"
Teammate: "I can try, coach."
Harbaugh (ignoring the "try" qualifier): "I want you to approach this shot with a focus unheard of in the history of golf. Can you do that?"
Teammate: "Yes, coach!"
Harbaugh: "I want people to talk about this golf shot for years to come! CAN YOU DO THAT?"
Teammate: "YES, COACH!"
Harbaugh: "Now go take that shot!"
Teammate: "I'M GOING TO HOLE THAT DAMN BALL, COACH!"
Harbaugh: "Who's got it better than us?"
Teammates (plural): "NOOOOOOOBODY!!"

The television coverage actually begins on Golf Channel today, where they will be broadcasting live from 1pm EST to 2:30 pm EST pior to the CBS coverage. Same thing tomorrow, too, I believe-- live coverage begins on Golf Channel before it switches to CBS. Given when JH tees off today, Golf Channel might be a better bet than CBS.

But for Th-Fri coverage, you needed to subscribe to Golf Channel, I think. Today, I imagine that is so too. The alternative is to get a free 7 day trial of PGA golf channel (link above), but you probably need to get an account, then cancel on the 7th day if you want coverage of more than the two featured holes. Also, I not sure if they just show a few featured groups or the whole field.

So Harbaugh is -14 if I understand correctly? killing it

Only the best score counts (the actual score for the pro or the net, handicap-adjusted score for the amateur). So, if on a given hole the pro has a lower score than the amateur, the pro's score counts. But if the pro is +7, and the team -7, Harbaugh probably contributed to the team much more. eg I think he had a net birdie on the 18th hole on both days. His partner, I think, bogied both holes. Also, the fact that the team is ranked about #71 and the pro #148 suggests that the amateur is contributing much more.

The greens at Pebble are notoriously tough to read. Hopefully, Sarah has been studying them closely.
JH may be comparing her performance to that of his caddie in 2012, QB Alex Smith.

Sarah actually wasn't caddying yesterday, not sure why and not sure if she's back today or not.

He's getting there today.

You can't birdie them all if you don't birdie the first 2!!
Go low Harbs!!
February 13th, 2016 at 1:16 PM ^
(four straight birdies, counting the 18th yesterday).
Team is -10, only 2 shots back of the cut line.
Jim needs to give a big tip to his caddie, Sarah !

Steve Young and Jim Harbaugh are the two former NFL stars.
I did not realize it, but Harbaugh has now played in the Celebrity group at least 3 times now: 2012, 2013 and 2016.

Coach makes the cut here with how little time he has had for golf the past year. I am guessing Coach Harbaugh iand wife Sarah are might be the only couple to to both attend the State of the Union and particiipate in the AT & T pro am at Pebble this year. Good for them. Hope the SEC zealots can enjoy watching Harbaugh in the "tooonament' today.
P.S. Just showed Coach on golf ghannel at 1:30 e.s.t. wearing all blue, no Khakis, with probably a local caddie carrying a Michigan golf bag. 11 handicap.

Blisters? Do you really think Jim FREAKIN' Harbaugh would get blisters? Please...
But seriously, he isn't really making his wife actually carry his golf bag, is he? LOL!!

This coverage is terrible. They mentioned Harbaugh once breifly and didnt even show a single shot of his when he was on ten.
February 13th, 2016 at 2:59 PM ^
The problem is that hole #10 coverage now competes with both #17 and coverage of featured group(s) on other holes. Also, they seem to be showing almost entirely the pros, not celebs. Maybe the 3pm CBS coverage will show more celeb shots.

They noted "Head coach of University of Michigan....he's really popular around here.".
They said his handicap is 11 now, which is really good for somebody that hasn't had any time to play golf.

Almost unrecognizable in anything but khakis.

They just broke his swing down. Channel 704 DirectTV. Pretty good for a guy who doesn't get a lot of time to work on it. Golf is hard.

Called him Big Jim… the man who’s getting a lot of love for Michigan.
JH hit what looked like a great shot on 17. It had a beautiful trajectory. But was a bit short of the green and ended in the gargantuan front-left sand trap.
JH got interviewed afterward by Clint Eastwood and Jim Nantz, who noted:
A lot of the people out here wanted you back. Nantz asked: What’s it been like moving back to Ann Arbor?
Harbaugh said: It’s a joy.
February 14th, 2016 at 10:57 AM ^
It's a Joy, Jim. Really is. Competitive juices really flowing back there. It's happening.
