Six Zero

And so it is here.  We've made it.  Today the maize and blue begin the season anew.

It's been a long, long road this year.  Again.  We had a great recruiting class, we lost several of them, and not all of them by choice.  For the first time we were subjected to the shame of breaking the rules, and regardless of whomever's fault it was, the block M deserves better and we have had to endure plenty of scrutiny.  We had a relatively quiet summer, with strange whisperings and accusations of dedication and commitment (among the players, not just here at MGoBlog, ha).  A new Athletic Director is at the helm, and he made an immediate effort to prove that he gets it-- that was for us, and he deserves to know it was appreciated.  We had a great camp, minus the loss of a budding star player.  We've heard lots of accusations, perspectives, and predictions about our team, and most of them are by misguided media who base their arguments from other's partial truths.  And yes, we've had to wait.

It's all over... today.  0-0.  The slate is as clean as the new stadium and its hallowed artificial turf.  Personally, I'm a little nervous-- nervous to start the season with such an obvious weakness (the secondary), but I've reserved myself to the thought that Rich and his staff know how to solve the problem and keep the bleeding short.  We're ready.  It's here.

Congratulations, gentlemen.  A happy gameday indeed.
