Halftime Report: Michigan Looking Really Good

Submitted by Snazzy_McDazzy on October 9th, 2021 at 9:27 PM

I know the "Pffff Nebraska" crowd entered tonight ensconced in blissful ignorance but this contest had all of the trappings of a dangerous trap game. Gattis' play calling has been excellent and MacDonald's game plan has bottled up an offense that just blew out Northwestern by 49 points. Credit our defensive line, which seems to be growing up right before our very eyes with each passing game. Also, how about some love for our (occasionally maligned) freshman quarterback? Cade McNamara is starting to come into his own.

Look, I’ll admit third quarter was ugly as hell, but Nebraska totally changed their offense. If Michigan pulls it out, it will still be because of those runs.

Don’t act like you saw that offense coming…

Just checking in from the reception, between dessert and dancing.

Pleasantly surprised to see we're shutting them out.

BTW, the theme tonight was the old Tom Cruise-Mia Sara movie Legend.

So that's how my night is going.

Defense is playing great. I’d hate to see what a Qb that can throw it can do.

13-0 against an unranked team at the half is kinda meh though.

What's the record for most video reviews in a half? At this rate, Todd Blackledge could spend just as much time providing restaurant reviews as he does football commentary and we could've watched a full AFC Richmond match. #TedLasso

What happens when Nebraska charges right down the field to open the half and makes it a 6 point game?

It's remarkable how the game began with Nebraska and their fans taking it to Michigan, beginning this game as a threat, but Michigan slowly and inevitably took control of the game. Barring a Nebraska miracle or two I fully expect Michigan to do the same things they did in the first half and more, winning going away.

Whole other half to go and Martinez is still a dangerous man, but Michigan has settled into a rhythm  and the defense is getting pressure. Have to like what you see so far.

Getting out of Lincoln with any kind of win is a good win.
