Great OSU reaction video post-Northwestern

I thought initially this was a fan.  It's actually a Cleveland columnist.

God, this is completely insufferable. Meyer and Harbaugh have met once. Meyer's team won in a blowout. And Harbaugh is "burning him out." Do you know what a child you sound like?

... as a journalist, "well they won" isn't enough.  There's a reason (and a story) behind a 4 point win when a 21+ margin of victory was expected.  I think this is a rant against the homer press corps that tosses Urban softballs during the post game presser instead of asking tough questions.

The video is bizarre (the expression on the guy with the mic is amazing at points) and this sounds like a meltdown, sort of. It seems like a critique of OSU, but a lot of this seems to be a writer's exasperated internal monologue as he searches for a "narrative" to allow him to put the game and season in context. Which is a first world amongst first world problems.

All this speculation is cute and all. But let's beat them first. Remember what they did to us last year ? This Northwestern game could have very well been Meyer going vanilla with the playbook as he just wants to get his team healthy for us.

Honestly... Their fans are insufferable... I hope they spend 20 years wandering in the wilderness after the guy leaves, because he didn't win enough.

Muster up the same effort they did against us, and knock off OSU? They match up well. Sparty is vulnerable to the deep ball, and OSU doesn't seem to be able to attack deep. OSU doesn't seem to be able to stop the run, and Sparty showed against us, an ability to run the ball. OSU has trouble defended JT, and Sparty found a way to generate a little pressure against us. Should be interesting on 11/19 in E Lansing.

Anybody remember one of mgoblogs intrepid reporters (I think it was Ace) saying when he had press credentials with UM having to bite his tongue or risk getting thrown out of the press box?

This guy Lesmerises takes the cake.  He and Bill Landis, the guy on the right, both appear to be wearing the same badges -- press box credentials.  I think Landis is stepping off camera because he doesn't want to be associated with Lesmerises conduct.  They're colleagues at cleveland.com, because apparently, only one credentialled reporter from Cleveland isn't enough to cover OSU football.  As recently as last year, Lesmerises was an AP Voter.  Think about that!

Hey, I know this is what OSU football is all about.  Everybody drinks the koolaid or else, Herbstreit.  And, yeah, UM's got guys on the payroll in the form of Brandstatter and Dierdorf and Ufer long before them.  But these Cleveland guys are Journalists, no?

On the face of it Ohio State is exactly what one would expect for a team that is 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the league at any one time.

In short, they appear to be more than good enough to beat anyone in the BIG10, including the Penn State team that they lost to on the road 2 weeks ago.

Pts/Game                   42.2      2nd

Yrds/Game                 493      1st

PassYrds                   1,764    8th

Rush Yrds                  2,179     1st

3rd down conv %         50%     1st

4th down conv %          71%    2nd

Penalties                       58        3rd

Pen Yrds Lost               450      8th

Scoring Def                   15.1 pts/game    3rd

Def Yds Allowed/Gm   296       2nd

Pass Yds Def               1349     2nd

Rush Yds Def                995      3rd

INTs                                   12        2nd

A decisive Michigan win over MSU would have spelled serious doom for Ohio St.

But Michigan did not seal the deal offensively and settled for 9 pts instead of 21 (TDs).

MSU played better than expected. Michigan played worse than expected.

Against both PSU and NW, Ohio State underperformed.

The difference is that Ohio State's issues are a slightly negative trend. Michigan may or may not have a negative trend in the works (on defense and red zone offense)

Plenty of footbaugh to be played folks.
