Grantland loves UM NBA rookies
Jason Concepcion of Grantland posted an article about NBA rookie pictures and dunks. All of the Michigan rookies are prominently featured.
He called McGary's dunk his favorite dunk ever, and posted this about Nik's rookie picture:
"This is like a photo in People, from a story that would be titled “Breakaway,” about the lone survivor of a tragic Minnesota school bus accident that claimed the lives of everyone else on his high school basketball team."

So do I. Over the past few years, this program has produced a number of high-skill, high-character guys who are going to rep the maize and blue very well in the Association for years to come. There are plenty more coming down the pipeline too.

Ummm.. Is Stauskas the same height as McGary??

Stauskas is listed at 6'7" while McGary is listed at 6'10", just a 3 inch difference. Also, McGary seems to be hunched over a bit for most of the gif.

That is the most Mitch McGary way to dunk a basketball. The description Concepcion uses is exactly how this blog has characterized McGary throughout his career. A bumbling oaf who, through will and determination with dashes of skill and athleticism, manages to get shit done his way. I totally agree with Brian on this one. I'm going to miss that guy.

If Mitch's dunk was a microcosm of his personality, then so was Glenn's. Just pure athleticsm. Awesome.
I get depressed every time I watch the "Madness" basketball hype video. All those highlights of Mitch and Nik smiling and having fun out there...It was fun as hell to watch too. I know our team and recruits are skilled and hard workers, I just hope they take time to enjoy the game as well as Nik and Mitch did.
Damn the NCAA. Eff them from keeping Mitch for ourselves for another year. Yes, I'm serious.*
*Though I damn sure hope he suceeds in life and in the NBA, regardless of him leaving Michigan so early.
