Granato out at UW.  No huge surprise there.  Be interested to see who they pick up.

Hastings is an interesting guy. He took a perennial bottom-feeder and turned them into a WCHA/CCHA juggernaut, so of course his name comes up for every major coaching job, and yet he hasn't been hired away yet, suggesting that he might be content where he is. On the other hand, it's well known that Minnesota State has applied to the NCHC several times and wants to be in a bigger pond. I'd think that that would indicate Hastings would be interested in a bigger job.

Maybe he's just bombing the interviews. I know Tech interviewed him a number of years before he got the MSU job, and we went with another candidate.

Beyond Hastings, I highly doubt any successful NCHC coach is coming to Wisconsin for a rebuild. The NCHC is consistently the top league in the country (except for this year), so being successful there means Frozen Fours and national titles are in the conversation every year. Unless Wisconsin decides to throw gobs of money at someone, it's a lateral move from the NCHC to the Big Ten.

That narrows it down to the OSU coach. Would the coach of another Big Ten school leave for his alma mater? It's possible, I guess. None of these names seem particularly plausible.
