Yeah, that was a big deal. I went to the CSU @ AFA game on Thanksgiving last year. Aurora was back for that game but the AFA fans I was talking too were pretty pissed off about the whole thing.
The Cadets who did the kidnapping, they're some combination of brave, stupid and lucky. First, they broke into a colonel's house (!!!) simply to get to the bird. Then, that falcon has 2+ inch talons! Those could hurt you pretty good if you got the bird pissed off.

As an AFA grad, it's sad to hear and yeah, the kidnapping did have an impact to her lifespan, but like any bird of prey kept in captivity, it would have happened at some point. It's never fun to hear about these things.

Wild falcons only live 5 to 10 years. This falcon almost tripled that. When I was a kid our Cockatiel flew out the window and was gone the entire summer but flew back into our garage when it started getting cold. It lived 32 years.
