Tweet from @umichfootball. Interesting. Also Jake Ryan is now in full contact drills.

Exactly right.  Last year and this year, Bryant was regarded as the best run-blocker on the team.  Obviously the big concern is his health, but as long as he is healthy I think this change has to be viewed as a positive.  I don't think we are suddenly going to be 2012 Alabama, but I do expect there to be more opportunities in the run game.  I'm pretty excited about this move.

hopefully the added strength and size puts us in more 2nd and 5-8 yards instead of 2nd and 10-13. This should ease up things for Devin.

or hopefully Bryant was just the missing piece and Miller was the main culprit of our running woes.

I expect pass-protection to still be spotty in the middle...hope im wrong.

we just added 26+ pounds to the line. I read somewhere that all weight gain is good. The best part  about that is if Miller comes back in we lose 26+ pounds to the line. All weight loss is good, too, IIRC.

Win-win.

I don't understand how Jake is progressing so quickly. Everyone that sustains that type of injury is shelved for a year. I'm not mad about it don't get me wrong, I just don't get how this is happening so fast.

A colleague of mine who attends practice occasionally said he was very encouraged by what this revised O-Line looked like when he saw them in action this week.

I know Chris quite well and it was last Tuesday when he told me he'd be starting against Minnesota. The coaches told him Monday after the UConn game. They have obviously known for awhile that they were going to make the move. Furthermore, Chris said that his knee has been fine ever since it was drained, but it's been his shoulder. He actually had a pack of ice on it last time I saw him, but said it feels better and he feels as healthy as ever. It'll be nice to see the big fella out there moving DTs every which way.
