Game 2

Submitted by goblueritzy92 on
I think it was a good game for the Wings. It was good to see people like Abdelkader come through and making clutch goals 2 nights in a row. There was also a plethora of close shots by the Penguins that were millimeters from going in. I also thought the refs may have helped us a little bit, because of that hook on Hossa before the Filipula(sp?)goal, and also an interference before the first Wings goal. What do you guys think? the officiating has been iffy for us so far, but the guys taking advantage of it are our third and fourth line guys, which is great, and speaks to out depth. I am honestly going to be just fine if Abdelcader, and Fillilpula, and Franzen do all the scoring for us this series, because Pittsburgh has no one that can do that after Malkin and Crosby, and if we get Datsyuk back for game three, I don't think Malkin and Crosby can get enough done to carry the team. Im really thinking sweep. I know how crazy things we'll be back in Pittsburgh, but even so, as well defensively as we've played, I don't think it matters for the Pens.

we had two pucks hit the inside of the post tonight and fluery (sp) shouldve gotten abdelkaders. tonights game couldve gone to pittsburgh just as easily and now thats its going back to pittsburgh i dont think we'll sweep

If you're going to start looking for penalties that might have been called, you're going to find some for both teams. As long as the refs make the calls or non-calls evenly, it's not that big a deal.

I love that the wings are proving me wrong. I didn't think they could win without pavel. So far I am wrong. I learned my lesson, never bet against the wings...

It will be interesting to see if Malkin gets suspended for going after Zetterburg at the end there. It looked like Malkin definitely dropped the gloves first and could get a game suspension under the instigator rule. At least he had some fire I guess, all Crosby does is blindside hits leading with his elbow. Honestly I hope he doesn't get suspended though, I don't want the Penguins apologists to use it as an excuse when they lose.

Even though the wings won the first two games, I felt like they were vastly outplayed. Especially tonight. They turned the puck over in their zone countless times. Luckily Osgood and post were so effective. Anyways, can't be turning the puck over and giving them so many chances. In a 7 game series, those chances will eventually become big goals.

Either no one saw it or no one thinks it's as bad as i do... ...there isn't any one talking about the no call when Helm got nut-checked and tripped all in about 15 seconds. This happening with about 3 minutes to go in the 2nd i believe. This action can be construed as "spearing," which is at least a double minor penalty. I saw Helm go down and didn't think much of it at the time, then i replayed the last 4 minutes of the period during intermission. My roommate and i both went nuts when we saw what actually happened. Point is, the officiating has been inconsistent and borderline terrible all play-offs. the NHL really needs to fix this.

Pittsburgh could have won last night, as well, and it will be interesting to see how we handle not having the last change on the road. I would probably readjust the lines a little by putting Cleary on a line with Filpula to give us three defensive-minded pairs up front. I wonder if we are going to see Draper or Datsyuk? This will definitely not be a sweep, and I think it would be great to get the first goal of game 3.
