Hope everyone is doing well. Beautiful west Michigan evening here. I had a glass of blantons earlier and am sipping on IW Harpers now while I read True North by Jim Harrison on the back deck. What are you drinking/cooking/doing this fine evening?

I’ve got an APA home brew out of my kegerator. It’s fantastic! The kegerator is dual taps and the other side is what I’m calling “Wuhan Pilsner”. Whether that’s politically correct, or not. It also turned out great. An IPA is fermenting... ready to take the place of whichever beer goes first. Have a great weekend MGOBLOG!

I'll admit, it's an acquired taste. I wanted to like whiskey because some of my coaching friends did. I started by drinking "Irish mules" (think a Moscow mule with Jameson) and added more and more whiskey until it was mostly whiskey. Then, I just started drinking and enjoying whiskey.

To each their own Sydney. I personally like straight bourbon or scotch. Definitely an acquired taste and not for everyone. OP states his journey to liking straight liquor.

Yes!! A beautiful evening here in West Michigan. Started with a couple of fingers of Macallan 12 and now enjoying a little Old Forester 1920. The hummingbirds here are getting a little crazy. Fun to watch them battle over their territory. Mating dances are amazing to watch.

Have a great and safe evening all!!

Bottle of Rioja open here. One of those Northern California straight bracingly cold air summer evenings. But I am out back with Basement Tapes era Dylan enjoying a moment.

I'm having a gigantic glass of ovaltine in the hope that I won't wake up in agony. I finally finished my front walk today. It looks really nice, but using 24x24 pavers was a huge pain in the ass. Do not recommend, no matter how much your wife likes them.

A good part of me died when the show, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, ended last fall.

I am a Scotch drinker but enjoy a bourbon from time to time. Looking to transition to a summer go to. Gin and tonic (with a splash os St Germain) is nice. Suggestions?

Boulevard Brewing's Whiskey Barrel Stout is going down quite nicely tonight!

Also, Sydney, definitely an acquired taste but there's not much better than straight, smooth bourbon.  You really don't need to break the bank for whiskeys that are smooth with just a splash of water either.  Old Charter from Buffalo Trace Distillery is less than $20/bottle and is pretty damn smooth for the price.

Nice calm night south of Cleveland.

Polished off a 6 pack of Oberon because it reminds me of home. Now onto Fat Heads Hefeweizen and IPA.

I was thinking about Oban but I might have to hit some Woodford Reserve ... in memory of a very close friend whose wife makes him take shots of Woodford when he loses to her at Yahtzee.  I’m sure he can’t walk right now.  She cheats (or so I’ve heard).

The wife and I ate at a restaurant for the first time in months tonight.  Tables must have been 10’ apart.  Almost felt normal. Everyone wore masks in and out of the dining area.  Following that up with an M-43 IPA.
