Yesssh...
He's out of jail...?
The good ol' Spartan way!
I thought it was just an update of his new prison location..."F Block."
Most of the recruiting class is FB.
Freaking Busted!
but don't post freep links here.
If you really can't find another source, at least use the print only.
Freebird?
You mean he's too slow to play wide receiver? Who'da thunk...
or was that just on his twitter?
LOL. May all of the Southeastern kids pan out as well. RT: @JimComparoni: Fred Smith has been moved to fullback. 1:48 PM Apr 17th via Echofoneither way this would be a good time to encourage as many of you as possible to add his twitter account on mobile alert so you don't have to refresh on loop, etc.
It's sad. Fred Smith. Was a 4 star WR in High School and was thought to be a lock to go to Michigan, since him and his family were lifelong Michigan fans. He ended up choosing MSU over Michigan much to the suprise of his family, his brother left the room in tears he was so disapointed. (He chose MSU becuase his HS coach is a MSU alum and talked bad of UM, has since talked childhood UM fans William Gholston and Larence Thomas into same situation) Since that day he has caught a total of 1 pass in 3 years at State and took part in the rather hall incident that landed him in jail for a week. He was allowed back on the team now after everything that happened to be put on the depth chart as a Full Back. It's just too bad.

Wow Lawrence Thomas went to a completely different school and I don't remember hearing anything about gohlston being a childhood fan of UM although I could be wrong on that one

Thomas Grew up a big Michigan fan. Gholston did not. My mistake. I thought I read it in a rivals article. Memory was wrong. sorry
Is it possible that his history of bad decision making(like choosing MSU over UofM) was apparent before he got to MSU, and not a direct result of going to MSU?
Is he a junior or senior?
How does Fred have time to learn a new position while he's playing major minutes on the basketball team as Izzo and Dantonio promised??
..going to school for one thing, only to find out that you might be better suited for something completely different.
I guess I'm glad it only happens in football sometimes.
if you are going to move him to FB? Why take the risk of a media hit reinstating ANOTHER player out of jail just to move him to fullback?
Why not TE? If he is to big to be a WR then the normal progression is TE.

That is all.

You know, like that bobcat who was washed out of show business and became a cop, he used to appear on the disney channel, anyway... before we do that, let's kinda remember that this doesn't just happen at State. I'm not saying 4-star WR typically move to FB, but this sort of thing isn't completely uncommon.
Remember when Scout said Stevie Brown was a 4-star corner. He ended up at linebacker. Not saying it's the same thing, but it's at least comparable, though maybe not as drastic.
All I'm saying is this isn't the craziest thing to ever happen, and all the ROTFLMAO!!!11!1! is a little over the top in my opinion. That is all.
when you go from 4* wide out, then to jail, then back to wideout only to be moved to fullback.
And no Stevie Brown moving from Safety to LB is not the same thing. FBs rarely get drafted into the NFL and even if they do there is only 1 FB spot on the roster. With LB there is 3/4 spots per team therefore your odds of succeeding are much higher at the next level.
Also seriously who gets excited about a fullback? No one. Do you get excited about:
WR: Yes
S: Yes
LB: Yes
FB: No
So no it's not the same thing at all. RBs go to FB not WRs... WRs go to TE.
It's not the same thing. I understand that and even said it wasn't. I said it was comparable that Stevie Brown was to scout a CB and ended up a LB. I even said the move from WR to FB was more drastic. So before you get all gung hoe about how I don't understand that please reread my post.
To further my point though, State already has a good young TE in Dion Sims. Looking at the roster, Smith is only 228 lbs. He would get killed at the TE position. He would be useless there as he wouldn't be able to block any DEs. At fullback he can be useful. He can be used out of the back field or motioned out as another WR. He can also take on LB in run situations.
And do I get excited about fullbacks? Yes. Kevin Dudley was one of my favorite Michigan players in the past. I understand that FBs don't often get drafted, but is that in the cards for Fred Smith at WR or TE? No. Is it in Michigan State's best interest to get their best players out on the field to help them win? Yes.

...that this is totally meaningless since he was only reinstated last week and has been in exile for quite a while.
Then again, they've got an Elite 11 QB at X.
